What is the UK format at the moment, and how is it behind the USA?

Hi all,

Having been away from the game for a while I'm a bit bemused by how things are in terms of Organised Play and a 'format' to build cards within. Now as far as I know, Holon Phantoms is 'okay' and all the sets up to Diamond and Pearl are 'fine' too.

Now I'm finding Mysterious Treasures left, right and centre online/on auction sites and yet we can't play with them... fair enough, we should wait for the Prerelease dates and the 'official' dates for release to make it fair.

So we wait a while, not much crops up on the 'Gym and so I'm thinking... let's call our friends at The Place for Games and find out what's going on (and perhaps ask where my trophy is).

So a dead line, dead website and nothing else save from a few Tournament Organisers trying to piece together a set of events on behalf of a company who is I thought paid to do so.

So what's going on? Any ideas? And what's being done about it I wonder... because it would be nice to start playing again you know... when everyone's ready and that :tongue:

Hi Freddy, apparently the reason is because TPFG is no longer involved in Pokemon Organized Play and as yet no one ( or no company) has got the "contract"! Both Ben and Ian are doing a stirling job in getting some sort of organized play i.e. the Battle Roads, but everything at the moment is very "up in the air" Dont hold your breath for any official Mysterious Treasures Pre-Releases any time soon as I think the UK has very much missed the boat with that one! There are a lot of Battle Roads up and down the country but further than that we are all wondering "what next??"
 
The whole of Europe is behind the USA right now. The UK is perhaps a further two or three weeks behind Europe. POP are working to get everyone back in step and synchronised but its not something that can be achieved overnight, or even over several nights.

FWIW the Battle Roads in the UK have nothing to do with TpFG or Esdevium, fortunately for us POP are 100% committed to the Premiere event series and are doing their best to ensure that OP keeps going in the UK.
 
Martin - wow, that's surprising news. So does that mean that there is no longer any support for your leagues at all? Reminds me of the days of WotC! :eek:

Ian - good news that POP is behind the work that's being done by yourself and Ben, keep up the good work. I will lend a hand if/when I get around to visiting your events soon. Is Esdevium still distributing Pokémon product? Do they not wish to be involved in OP?

That is very much a question for Esdevium to answer - We are scheduled to hear what the future maybe by the end of this month - so it's wait and wonder until then.

In the meantime there are the BRs and London Battle Royal to look forward to - at the moment CCs are the remit of whoever takes over OP in the UK from TPfG.

Watch these boards for details..

Release-wise, it shouldn't be. Not right now, at least. MT was released in Europe on October 10, three weeks ago, which means we have the same format as the US.

At least I'm quite sure it's October 10 for all of Europe. We need an official statement on this, I think.

You mean 3 days ago right man such close relesse dates to catch up is anoying lol I still dont got all the D+P tins and starters let alone even a quarter of the set , we here in Ireland are 3 or so weeks behind even the UK but we got the tins quite fast ill admit!!!!!!!
My local H+G store has not even gotten D+P yet...... and game is out of decks and bosters and only has tins and a couple of piplup triple packs left.....
Say to yourself least you dont live in Ireland.....
 
Well.......not quite all of Europe!! We in the UK are part of Europe and MT has not been released here yet! Freddy, you're basically right in that the leagues have not had any support for a while, we still havn't had the new league stuff and certainly for my Norwich league we are still trying to get by on what I have left from previous seasons. And yes, it DOES feel like the last days of WoTC all over again! However I'm sure that it wont get quite as bad as that again! *prays*
 
personally im stuck in 2 minds atm wether to build the deck i want to to keep in the game as it seems that we the uk are bein singled out and bein left behind were the only country with ot mt now and i think it sucks they need to get things sorted and get a replacement for the place for games as this game is going to go down hill if something isnt done soon as people will stop playing throgh lack of organisation and the games to gd for that to happen so come on pokemon tcg sort it out
 
It is the 14th today, in ten days time I believe that the UK will be HP-DP2. Ten days isn't very long.

The Norwich Battle Road is on the 28th in fourteen days time. So the format for Norwich ought to be HP-DP2.

So... after the 24th we can use MT??? Anyway, I don't understand why we can't use MT because the Shops are selling it so surely it must have been released? This is starting to get really confusing!!!:D

PS: Surely that means that for the BR on the 21st I can only use HP-DP1 and for the BR on the 27th I can use HP-MT???

Ireland got updated......... we have no OP lol we got a distrubator still but TPfG is gone of ours.....
Man I guess I do research on the subject next saturday.....
 
At the moment I am still calling my Norwich Battle Road as HP-DP1 as we have not had official confirmation that MT is released on 24th. Of course as soon as we have that confirmation then obviously I will alter the format, but at the moment I am still looking at HP-DP1 Thanks. By the way, just a reminder, if you are planning to travel to the Norwich tourney please email me, as we still have an issue with the health and safety people with regards to the number of people in the shop at any one time.
 
Martin I doubt that we will ever have 'official' confirmation of the release of MT because we don't have a master distributor in the UK right now. I expect we will have an official date for Secret Wonders because I hope that we will have an OP distributor in place before SW is released.

Torchwood: the official release date has little to do with the shops selling the product. It may seem a bit daft but that is what happens with staggered release dates and the inevitable grey importing from a lower cost country when product is released in the low cost market first.

I certainly hope so!! All being equal I will run my tourney as HP-DP1 as it seems some people have had access to MT and others havn't and this seems to be the fairest way to ensure a level playing field. Thanks a lot guys!

Nope I got PUSA too but I followed the Esdevium Link and went in through that one - very out of date and still has TPfG in there..

PUSA was set to reflect where we are temporarily and to allow TO's to continue to sanction events :D - before that we were getting a no OP message.. I don't expect PUSA to be our full time OP fix..

we were going downhill with TPfG in charge too - this is a temporary blip - unlike the WotC/Nintendo change we are getting something from the US - we have BR's with prize support - the rest will follow with time - patience.. we will win through in the end..
