Origional Post:

When I first saw the preview scans for the new set Secret Wonders, one card that caught my eye was Lugia. 120 Damage per turn is unheard of for a basic, and so I decided to construct a deck based on his second attack (see spoiler below.) Here's the list I have so far:

Pokemon (16):

4x Lugia (SW)
3x Shuppet (HL)
3x Banette (PK)
2x Cleffa (NGen)
2x Articuno EX (FRLG)
1x Mantyke (DP)
1x Mantine (MT)

Trainers (29):

4x Super Energy Removal
4x Energy Removal
3x Fast Ball
3x Pokemon Tower (Nintendo Promo)
3x Gold Berry
3x Switch
3x Lanette’s Net Search
2x Energy Removal 2
2x Gust of Wind
1x Great Ball
1x Miracle Sphere Beta (SK)

Energy (15):

6x Psychic Energy
5x Water Energy
2x Double Colorless Energy
1x Holon Energy WP

Strategy: This deck is centered around Lugia. With all the different means of removing your opponent’s energy cards (10 energy removals and various attacks), you should be able to do 120 every turn, and if you can’t get rid of all the energy, 40 damage for one turn isn’t that bad either. Shuppet and Articuno EX are there to remove energies, and Banette is there just because it’s a fun card to use. The Mantine line tech, switches, and Holon Energy WP are there to reduce retreat costs so it is easier to switch between Lugia and the other Pokemon.

Spoilers:
Lugia lv.43 90 HP
Basic Pokemon (duh)
C Silver Wing 20: Flip a coin. If heads, choose an energy card attached to the Defending Pokemon and return it to your opponent’s hand.

PCC Psychic Destruction 120: If the Defending Pokemon has any Energy cards attached to it, this attack’s base damage is 40 instead of 120.

W: P+20 R: F-20 RC: CC

So, any suggestions? This deck is for Unlimited Format (as you probably noticed already) so tell me any cards that could make it even better. Thanks.

Drop EVERYTHING in the Pokemon but 4 Lugia and 3 Cleffa
Add in
Item Finders, Oaks, Bills, GoWs, Focus Bands, A LOT more draw etc.
OH and 4 DCE along w/ maybe a couple recycle would help.

Comp Search, Oak, Item Finder, 4 GOW, Bill

Where are they?

Yes, add though EXCEPT Bill. It sucks and there are so many better draw cards like Steven's Advice. Those will be your draw cards so take out the rest.
Take out the rest of your Pokemon except Lugia and Cleffa and try to use a Slowking NG line (3-3, perhaps?) so that your opponent cannot search for energy or use windstorm. You do not need to use energy discarding Pokemon because you already have sufficient (S)ER power. You can though add Pokemon that can get trainers from the discard (like Minun.)
I always preferred Focus Band over Gold Berry but ehh, your call (at least Focus Band can protect Cleffa and Minun.)
You can try using hand disruption trainers like Lass to prevent your opponent from attaching energy too...
Add cessation crystals to deal with your opponent's Slowkings, energy accelerators, and Vileplume EXs.
Go for 4 DCE and a couple recycle energies.
4 GOWs now! Now, your 120 damage is a sniper. :]

There's my 2-cent unlimited analysis. :]

Rambo1000, what the heck are you talking about?

i'm talking about making this deck better by focusing on banette ex rather than lugia.

...so, in other words, you want to completely destroy the concept of this deck? The starter obviously wanted emphasis on Lugia SW. If you think that Banette ex should be the main line instead, I think it would be a better idea to make a new deck thread concerning with it rather than derail the focus of the thread. :thumb:

he has a banette line in the deck already. i think that the deck should focus on that more than lugia if it wants to win. please stop derailing the thread to bash my ideas, thanks.

Please excuse me, I did not mean to bash your idea or derail the thread. I am just seeking everyone's best interests. The topic starter wished to create a deck based on Lugia and that is what I and most other people in this thread are trying to help make it succeed. While I understand that you are trying to also help create a winning deck, changing the core of a deck of what you consider is best requires a revision of the entire deck which is why I recommended to make another thread so that your ideal and the starter's deck would not conflict.

I stopped reading from there.

Bill's not a supporter. 8 cards in one turn. Then Item Finder them back and get another 2. With Oracle, it's broken.

I'd rather have a supporter where I draw more than 2 cards at a time, hence why I chose Steven's Advice. 1 Steven's Advice gets you potentially 6 cards compared to Bill's 2 per 1. The supporter clause is a fallacy actually. Sure, you can only play 1 per turn but that is only constricting if you use DIFFERENT supporters. A Steven's per turn is almost like using 3 Bills a turn and is almost sufficient per turn. And honestly, even with the awesome draw power of Unlimited, what would the chances be of having 4 Bills all at once. And Item Finder? You make it sound like one cannot do the same with supporters and I'd rather use it on Oaks. And please, not trying to sound disrespectful, but the fact you say, "I stopped reading from there," it sounds insulting that my other opinion does not matter, and I kindly ask you not to do that.

Also, you should have stated the Bill-Oracle combo in your earlier post. I thought you just wanted to put in 4 Bills along with the rest of the staples without mentioning Oracle, sorry... :/

I don't like your pokemon line so much since there isn't any synergy, other than some energy removal ability, between them. You should really change that, but I can't think of what to change them to this early in the morning :p

Max out your Double Colorless energy for more speed.

4 GOW
Where are they?

Gosh, that was a no-brainer. Don't know why I didn't do that in the first place.:nonono:

So anyway, after looking at all your comments (they were all quite helpful) and seeing all the dumb mistakes I made, I finally made a new revised decklist (I've been really busy with school untill tonight):

Pokemon (10):
4 Lugia (SW)
2 Slowpoke (UF)
2 Slowking (NGen)
2 Cleffa (NGen)

Trainers (37):
4 Energy Removal
4 Super Energy Removal
1 Energy Removal 2

1 Focus Band
2 Gold Berry
2 Cessation Crystal

4 Great Ball
1 Computer Search
1 Fast Ball (SK)
3 Castaway

1 Bill
1 Professor Oak
1 Professor Elm

2 Switch
4 Gust of Wind
2 Windstorm
3 Pokemon Tower (Old WOTC Promo)

Energy (13):
1 Recycle Energy
4 Double Colorless Energy
8 Psychic Energy

Even with so few pokemon, the room is still really tight for trainers. I need at least 2 more supporters (mainly for Castaway) and more multiples of Bill (Maybe I should use TVR or Bill's Mantinence since I have so few supporters anyway.) Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, and what does:
mean? If you hate my deck (maybe you meant something else and if so please say) please feel free to say so (and telling me why would be nice) instrad of just spamming. Thanks.:thumb:

trust me in any most good unlimited decks there is NO room for 4 bill, there are just too many other broken things in that formant
