So maybe it's just me, but I've always noticed that Bulbasaur CG's "Growth" is pretty sweet with all those Ivysaurs out there. In the right deck, it even gives you a zapdosy effect (yeah I know, Zapdos is the worst deck :p). Now that we have an Ivysaur capable of doing 60 for GGC, and a superb Venusaur, here's what I've got cookin':

Pokemon (15):

4 Bulbsaur CG (Growth)
4 Ivysaur SW
4 Venusaur SW
2 Sableye CG
1 Stantler SW

Trainers (25):

4 Celio's Network
4 Rare Candy
4 Quick Ball
4 Rosanne
3 TV Reporter
2 Steven
2 Copycat
2 TSD/Night Maintenance

Energy (20):

4 Double Rainbow
16 Grass

So the strategy is simple: aim for an aggro T2 Ivysaur/Venusaur via Growth. Eventually by the late game you'll be able to swarm powers, and give many of the most competent decks heck on status alone.

The Sableye count may seem questionable, but all in all you _have_ to have at least one of them. Your Blissey match WILL be unwinnable without it.

4 Rosanne is critical, not only to guarantee you have an energy to grow into, but to account for the low basic count (seven).

I like where I'm going with this, but my two key issues are draw and energy. I think my draw is way too low for a concept like this, while my energy is a shade too high (all in all you still need a relatively high count for growth).

Thoughts, etc?

you may need to tech in a Venusaur CGm, since that beast can OHKO a Blissey if the timing is right

Magmortar's going to be downright impossible with this list. Sableye can't stall against Magmortar, as it can just use it's first attack to knock the black thingy out. Venusaur can't take many hits from Magmortar, especially with him spreading damage. Laying status effects down might not make a difference, if the LV.X has not been played yet.

So... What can we do...? Tech in a stage 1 water type, perhaps? Cloyster actually seems like a decent idea for this, as you can stall with Cloyster (Withdraw...!), snipe with Cloyster, and one shot a Magmortar if you get all heads (Like that'll ever happen... But it's good to know that you CAN do that!). Heck, it only needs 1 water energy to work, so just fit in a basic water or some multi energies, and boom. Cloyster does add possibilities to use against other matchups as well (mostly 'cause it can snipe at will).

Just giving you something to think about...

But Magmortar needs time to set up. If you get a Venusaur T2, the Magmar stands no chance, let alone an Energyless Magmortar.

Nice Deck, Cyrus!

Magmortar? You play a basic, you play an evolution, you start attaching energy cards to the thing.

Speed Magmortar decks can get T3 Flameball Bazooka. You won't be able to recover from such attacks going at you relentlessly. It's even worse if the Magmortar's a varient that has Typholosion to charge up Magmortars on the bench.

Magmortar is a very real threat to this deck, especially since it's body doesn't care if it's got a special condition on it, and there's the problem that it's possible for them to Level up, then start doing special conditions onto you. The only good news is that Magmortar will need a lot of set up before it can one shot Venusaur (but not much to cripple it or Ivysaur). Likewise, you can't one shot Magmortar, and you're not guarrenteed to heal yourself. The fact that Magmortar splashes over onto the bench is what makes this match so hard, and makes it so critical that you have something to make the ugly fire ball thingy puff out ASAP

You could tech in 2 / 2 Blastoise d or Azumarill DP? To help out the Magmortar situation?
I would also drop the Double Rainbow Energy for Holon's Castform simply for energy use.

I will post a fix later! :thumb:

With the Double Rainbow you've got in there, I think that you could do some major damage w/ a Venusaur from CG.
Magmortar isn't that much of a threat considering all the Empoleon and Feraligatr out there. Maggy isn't really played that much. Infernape can't OHKO a Venusaur either.

I'm almost thinking that Furret is the way to go here...but Furret + TGW = bad times. At least think about it, because it sets up the deck pretty fast.

My thoughts exactly ' Mrdraz'.

After thinking about the Magmortar thing that 'Pokmeman' added i agree it isnt such a problem; unless it played in your area? My fix:

Pokemon 20
4 Bulbasaur
2 Ivysaur
4 Venusaur (2 SW 2 CG)

3 Sentret
3 Furett

2 Chikorita
2 Meganium (MT) (Counter to fire)

Energy 18
14 Grass
4 Double Rainbow Energy

Trainers 22
4 Rare Candy
4 Rosanne
4 Bill's Maintenance
3 Steven's Advice
2 Team Galactic's Wager
2 Celio's Network
2 Night Maintenance
1 Memory Berry (Venusaur being able to use Growth?)

What do u think? Meganium is a good secondary attacker to use, strong attacks.

You could minus 1 Bulbasaur 1 Venusaur SW for 2 more trainers? But Furett will help you out alot!
