Well we got just a couple weeks left to find out who will be going to the National Title Game. Here is the current BCS rankings right now.

My Team Missouri has a BIG shot at the National Title spot. The Biggest game of the year happens to be the last regular season game for Missouri, it is also against the arch rivals The KU Jayhawks. To make this game even more exciting, both are #2 and #4 in the nation. IMO, If Missouri wins against KU then goes on and plays Oklahoma Sooners(I presume they will win there division) and Missouri beats them, which they should since they are playing on neutral fields, then Missouri will Play LSU foor the title.

Whats everyone elses opinion on this?
 
My honest opinion is that West Virginia is going to be the team playing for the national title this year along with LSU. I mean you have to hope that WV loses their next game if you want MO in the championship, plus MO has to win.

Btw, WV is my team atm...
 
Question: Can someone explain how some of the schools with better win-loss records (like Missouri or Ohio or even Hawaii) are ranked lower than something like West Virginia?

Just seems odd to me, and I have no clue how these rankings work btw. So would someone kindly enlighten me as to how it works?
 
I dunno about this years BCS.

if LSU loses in the SECCG, this is going to leave a very very bad NC Game, its not going to be a good one even with LSU in it, because they going to completely destroy whoever makes it in with them. Assuming LSU makes it to the NC Game.


Even though I am an LSU fan, if LSU makes it to the NC Game, no one is going to be able to put up a legitimate fight against them unless its someone else from the SEC, thats how college football is, the SEC is the conference that destroys everyone else, PAC10 is close behind though.

Rankings are based on votes. There is a counsel made up of team owners, and investors, that vote on who is the best. So even though Hawaii is undefeated, they may have played against weak teams, or when they do play stronger teams they just barely win. Stuff like that influences the rankings.
 
Okay so the only locked in team right now is Ohio and they can watch everyone around them. LSU is not a sure shot into the title game because anyone can beat anyone in the SEC on any day. We'll say that LSU wins that game then they go to the title game and play Tennesse if they win next week. LSU Tennesse could be very much like the Kentucky LSU game going down to the wire. I see Kansas beating Missouri because they have the better offense. So Kansas vs Oklahoma in the title game and Oklahoma could pull off the upset there. Which would really juggle things up. Then there's the Mountaineers who face UConn this week and they should win that game and be able to sit back for the conference title games. So it looks like LSU vs. WVU because no one in the Big 12 will win in back to back weeks. So that would slide Ohio down to 3 where they go to the Rose Bowl and face the Sun Devils if they beat Southern Cal this week. I think Boise will defeat Hawaii now that Brennan is significantly injured. For the one asking why 2 loss teams are ranked ahead of the undefeateds is because of the computers awarding strength of schedule and the name of the school. Hawaii and Kansas play in lower conferences than the SEC so they will always get the nod with one loss.

My pick is LSU vs. WVU with LSU winning.

Gah, my team is LSU. I've been rooting for them for my whole life.

It's really too hard to tell. Here's my thoughts on the top five teams.

LSU- Has a tough schedule. Arkansas will probably not be tough, then again... and then the SEC championships will really test their strength.

Kansas- Not the best team there, just lucky. They may have the best offense out there, but one of the worst defenses. Giving up mid-30 points to none other than Nebraska? Give me a break.

WV- Has a very good chance of moving up to #2. Kansas has to play two very tough games to get to the finals, while West Virginia has already proved itself and has less hard games than others.

Missou- I can't tell from who they played how good Missou is. At first glance they seem ok, but I haven't really been following them.

Ohio- Not much chance. LSU may lose, Kansas may lose, Missou may lose, WV may lose, but the chance of three out of four losing within the last few games is very unlikely.


There you have it! My prediction for BCS Bowl: LSU VS WV down in da' Bayou of New Orleans!

if its not from the SEC or PAC10, then its not worth a crap. Thats how I view teams in college football.

Ohio St has to be the most over rated team for the past 2 years, the NC game last year proved that to, Big 10 is a joke to.

I gotten to the point where the real NC game should be SEC champion vs Pac10 Champion, because any schools outside this conference undefeated or not would get destroyed by either conference champion.

College football championships have lived by a lie for many years now.
 
I really don't care about the National Championship game. Neither Illinois nor Michigan will be playing in said game. It doesn't matter to me.

I want to see at least 5 of the top 16 teams lose between now and the time when the bowls are selected. Why 5, you ask? Illinois is ranked 17, just outside of BCS bowl bid area. I wanna see them in a BCS bowl.

Of the teams above them, we already know that two out of the three (Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma) have to lose at least one game, cuz they play each other in a bit of a scrum for that conference. USC is just plain bad this year, and will probably drop another game before this is done. Florida is wildly inconsistent. So is BC, plus they're on a losing streak. Oregon lost the only player on their team that actually matters, so they'll probably drop at least one.

Illinois vs. Oklahoma in a BCS bowl. That'd be kewl...
 
This is the thing about alot of these teams like Oregon and OU. They play win because of 1 player, when hes done then the team is done. I thought this seperated good from the bad also, this is why LSU has been at the top all year or most of the year, its not totally dependent on 1 player, Kansas I guess you could say is the same way, but Kansas and Mouz play in scrub conference, if they played a good offense they would get beat.

SEC is the best conference hands down.

There are multiple components to the BCS calculations.

There is the AP-poll, which is a collection of writers across the US voting on the best teams.

There is the Coaches Poll, which is pretty self-explainable.

Then, there's the computer-generated rankings, which are based on a bunch of variables. These include win/loss, points scored, points against, and strength of schedule. There are probably more factors than this, but that's what it is.
 
Does no one think Kansas will beat MO? IMO they will and when they do, will go to the national champ game. LSU and Kansas control their fate, they're both good enough to win next week and stay in number 1 and 2 respectively.
 
as a big 12 fan, they should just go ahead and make the big 12 championship title game the BCS national championship game.

but i guess if i was a bookie in vegas, i have to pick lsu to win. cause they have a lot of impressive wins this season.
 
Spoink- I think Kansas should beat Missouri the way they've been playing their conference matches this year. I don't think they can get past Oklahoma though because its hard to go back to back with big wins. The SEC is by far the toughest and best conference. Vanderbilt can beat any team on a weekend, but the problem is so can everyone else. The SEC is tough but LSU wouldn't be worthy enough if they can't get past an inconsistent Arkansas team and Tennesse. If LSU plays Kentucky for the SEC title LSU will most likely be able to bounce back and win. Illinois would be BCS bowling if they didn't lose to Iowa. Their largest loss is like what 10 something to Michigan when they pulled away late. Illinois has been in every game this season and they were close to beating Missour but an INT late hurt their chances.

I think a playoff system is necessary because the top 10 all have a resume to get into the championship game. But these teams have lost uncharacteristically like such as LSU to Kentucky, Oregon to Arizona, WV to overrated South Florida.
 
It would be somewhat interesting if Kansas lost because then the only undefeated team in the country wouldn't be playing in the BCS title game. Just seems ironic.

Simply put, I think there are just too many things wrong with the college football system (not enough games, etc.) to really ever come up with a 1 vs. 2 matchup.

Kansas will most likely not beat Mizzou. This will Kansas' first test the entire season, IMO, and I just don't think they'll quite make it.

This shows the mizzou has played the tougher schedule and has defeated the teams that matter at a better differential. I fell that Mizzou should win against KU!!!
My predicition-
Missouri 41 KU 31


Ohio State has NO chance of getting in, they need 3 of the 4 teams in the top 5 to lose for them to get in, but if LSU loses and lets say Missouri wins, LSU will still be in the title and Missouri will too. LSU if they were to lose again, will pull a Oklahoma and go to the title.
