New Tournament rules documents have been posted

Thanks, I haven't read the document in full, yet. - - - Updated - - - I'm not sure if it opens up the format to set-up decks or not. While getting donked in game one isn't a factor anymore, if you don't win game one chances are that game two is going to time. At the very minimum you might get...

New Tournament rules documents have been posted

@King Piplup: I don't see anything there about a +3. I'm pretty disappointed in these rules along with only 50 minutes. There is going to be a TON of slowplaying. Even if you are extremely down in game 1 and scoop early, you probably wasted 15+ minutes. Add in time to get the second game...

Is a side board viable now

I have played plenty of other games with side decks. I perfectly understand how they work and what they are supposed to do. I'm saying that Pokemon is a structurally different game from the others that use side decks. Side decks would flat out make some deck unplayable. Recent successful decks...

Is a side board viable now

Nope. Just 5 cards so drastically changes a single deck in this game that is would be unfair. Darkrai/Garbodor could easily change into straight Darkrai when your opponent doesn't have any abilities. Virizion/Genesect could play ultra consistent and then tech in a whole Drifblim line when...

Points Required to Qualify for the World Championships: 500 CP for Masters? WHAT!

I'm surprised that the tournament structure changes have not been mentioned in conjunction with this announcement. Moving from large cuts to a Top 8 inherently makes it more difficult to win any given event. This is particularly true if the Swiss rumors are true. It has been whispered around...

Cheater unbanned and playing at Worlds?

I certainly have not advocated a life time ban. However, I will stand by the idea that he absolutely should not have been at Worlds. He cheated to get to Worlds and he cheated at this years National tourney. It simply astounds me that anyone will argue that it's OK that he was at Worlds.

Cheater unbanned and playing at Worlds?

I think you for your response, but here's the way myself and the player base see it. Unless you want to divulge more, this will always be the way we see it. The facts are: 1) Curtis stacked his deck on camera. 2) Curtis seems like a half-way intelligent dude. Therefore, it is highly likely...

Cheater unbanned and playing at Worlds?

I have a hard time believing that. It is common knowledge at all the events I've been to or seen streamed that you can request not to be on stream, and the organizers always ask if they want to be on stream.

Cheater unbanned and playing at Worlds?

This really is a sad outcome for P!P. The message it sends (and heck the message no doing anything about another player who was on video mana weaving, and having full knowledge what he was doing) is a poor one. It is basically saying, yeah go ahead and cheat if we like you. But if you are like...

How will they implement Mega Pokemon into the TCG?

I think something like the double sided cards in MtG would be pretty sweet, but that is likely way too complicated for Pokemon. They could have some sort of "trigger" and once the trigger occurs the card flips over to the other side. Some triggers I could see are: 1) An Item or Tool 2) A...

    Pokemon Stream- question

twitch.tv (which is what they are using) automatically makes recent broadcasts available for rewatch. So, as long as P!P doesn't immediately take them down they should be there. They just won't be edited.

    Headhunting?

That has nothing to do with this. A wager is "I bet X player will beat Y player," or "I bet X player will win." What was happening was, "anyone with less than 200 points that makes final four will get a prize." There was no wager on any game or even on the final standings.

    US Nationals live updates?

Answers in bold. As for the improvements, by all accounts they were great. I applaud the company for making those things happen.

    US Nationals live updates?

Those are great improvements, but not the main one the community wants. And it's not difficult to get the stream rolling. Seems like a big miss on P!P's part to me, and many others. Especially when we don't even have to compare Pokemon to MtG, but we can look at other Pokemon events. Canada...

    US Nationals live updates?

it's a shame P!P isn't streaming any of this. Literally the most difficult and largest event of the year, and no stream. But, I can understand if they are shying away from the stream due to the PR nightmare it has created for other events.
