I think you totally missed my analogy. I'm not a professional athlete or musician either, but I'd take lessons anyway because I enjoy the activities and want to get better. Millions of other people do the same thing.
wow...taking lessons in how to play pokemon. whats to learn that cannot be learned through your own playtesting.
