REDMOND, Wash., March 14, 2013 - Pokémon fans will get a jolt of excitement when Nintendo releases the Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL hand-held system on March 24. This bold yellow Nintendo 3DS XL hardware features a familiar outline of the iconic Pokémon. The system also comes packaged with a 4GB SD memory card and will be available while supplies last at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity launches the same day as the Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL system, and draws players in with a deep and compelling story full of unexpected twists. While playing as one of five popular Pokémon, players travel through a near-infinite amount of randomly generated Mystery Dungeons, battle and recruit other Pokémon and collect hidden treasure. The game is available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS and includes the ability to discover Magnagates - entrances to new dungeons - by scanning everyday circular objects with the Nintendo 3DS Camera. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is available at a suggested retail price of $34.99. For more information about the game, visit http://www.pokemon.com/MysteryDungeon.

Nintendo is offering a special bonus for people who buy both a Nintendo 3DS XL system and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Anyone who registers a Nintendo 3DS XL system and either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity or Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon with Club Nintendo between March 21 and April 30 will receive a code to download one of five Nintendo 3DS games for free: Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, Star Fox 64 3D or Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive!

Nintendo 3DS XL includes two screens that are 90 percent larger than those found on Nintendo 3DS. In addition to the latest Nintendo 3DS games, such as Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (launching March 24) and Fire Emblem Awakening (now available), the portable system is also compatible with hundreds of Nintendo DS games. a squirtle one would be awesome as well!! well, now i know that my oldest child will want to get this one after i just got her a pink 3ds a month ago. oh well, she can trade it in or maybe i will keep it for myself! i wonder if they are going to sell a nerf pikachu armor for it as well?

Since the X and Y announcement I had decided to pick up a 3DS XL and was hoping they would do this. now to score $200....

It would be really nice to see other Pokemon branded. For people who don't like Pikachu (like me), they will not have any incentive to buy one. At this point, people show know Pokemon. Its still a nice 3DS though.

I'll need to pick up a 3DS anyway so I have one when X/Y comes out.

If they made a Squirtle, Totodile, or Ralts one, then I'd be all over this like white on rice or a fat kid on a Twinkie.

Yay me! My son fronted the money for me to buy one. Can't wait until it comes in. I have a few games in mind to buy before XY comes out.

There's a leaked ad on a well known gaming deals website that shows that price.
Could you elaborate on that a bit more, please?

Edit: it may not help me much since I've already put up the full amount of money (and I'm not sure it would help here in Canada in the first place), but it would be nice to know ... if it's possible.

Now I am seeing how Toys R Us is trying to one up Target with a $150 price. Wonder who will try to beat that next lol.

Doomsday24, is that from specific stores, since on their website it quotes the $199 preorder price? In fact that's only the .com website. The Canadian version ( .ca website) doesn't even show the Pikachu version at all!

What I'm hearing is Toys R Us is going to do 179.99 + a $20 giftcard, making Target the better option still. Apparently the $150 is not suppose to be honored.

Bulbapedia posted a twitter pic with the images of the price. One was the regular listing and one was the promo price. It did say U.S. though, so not sure about Canada.

I think this will be an in-store promotion since the sites have the $200 price (but I have no real basis for this lol).
