Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

1-2 line VS 1-2-3 line

Are you using the #Basic/#stage 1/#stage 2? Or the other way around?

Most new players have a lot of 2 basic/1 stage one, or 3 basic/2 stage 1/ 1 stage 2.

If you want to play competitivly, you should use stuff like 3-3 lines or 4-2-4 lines.

If you only play 1 stage 2, you won't get it out that often, but if you play 4, chances are much higher.

Actually I used to run a Queendom with a thickish Holon line, so I ran 2 Pidgey, 2 Pidgeotto and 3 Pidgeot as the baiscs were so easy to get out, whereas the later stages wern't

And on that 4-2-4 line, the deck runs Rare Candy

So it's better to have 4 Basic, 2 Stage 1, and 4 Stage 2?

Is that a strategy for buying time or something else?

Here's an example of a 1-2-3 line:

3 Charmanders PK
2 Charmeleons PK
1 Charizard PK

An example of a 1-2 line

1 Chinchou PK
2 Lanturn PK

Use 2-1 and 3-2-1 so people know what you're talking about. And, a 4-2-4 line isn't for buying time =\
You use it for consistancy, so you actully have more than 1 Stage 2 to attack with.

4 Basic
2 Stage 1
4 Stage 2 (Main Attacker)
4 Rare Candy

This is the quickest way to get out your main attacker.

Then, add in support and search.

2 Basic
1 Stage 1
2 Stage 2 (Search)

Optional support. (Energy accel or just general support like Flareon in Flariados)

The examples you gave are, well, odd.

Your first example shows that you mean 1 stage 2, 2 stage 1s, and 3 basics, but your second example shows 2 stage 1 and 1 basic, which should, because of the other example(high->low) be 2 Chinchou and 1 Lanturn.

In the competitive enviroment, it is usually good to have as many of your main pokemon that you are using.

EXAMPLE #1: Metanite
Metanite is a deck, well, just read the article in the deck help forum.

You will see that it uses 4 beldum, 2 metang, and 4 metagross DS. This is because Metagross DS is the main "hitter" of the deck.

With your charizard example, if that charizard got knocked out, you would have only charmanders and charmeleons to fight! Not nearly as good as charizard would be.

More metagross means you will be able to attack with it more often.

Also, if you only played that 1 charizard, and only 1-2 celio's network/other pokemon-getter, how often would you get it out? Not that often.

But, if you had 4 Charizard and 4 Celio's, that is like having EIGHT charizards in the deck, much better then that one you had before.

With those 4 charizard, you will get it out more often and have more of them to attack with.

I have written a few articles about general deck-building for the competitive metagame, here are the links:

Yea, thats what a lot of new players use. Most people run 2-2, 3-3, 3-2-3, 2-1-2 lines and things like that. And no, it isnt to buy time, it's to get the evolutions out faster by using rare candy to skip the stage 1 line, and then you take out a couple of the stage 1's, because a lot of the time you dont use them when you rare candy.

With a 4-2-4 line and Rare Candy, you will often see the Stage 2 in play on the second turn. Sometimes even on turn 1. Not what I'd call "buying time".

So what Rare Candy's from a legal set can I use?

SS is Sandstorm.
And rumor has it that it will also be in the next set of POP Promos for League.
