I wanted to play Blastoise/KeldeoEX, however, the borrowing of Tropical Beach fell through and I had no deck. After some late night chatting I decided to use DarkraiEX/MewtwoEX with Sigilyph and Meloetta. I wake up this morning, make the deck, and off we go! This was a cool day because it was my sisters first time judging and event.

*Note: Some of the match details might be a tiny bit off, however, the main parts I did remember.

Round 1: Charizard/CelebiEX
This was the first time my friend and I were battling in an official tournament. He opens Charmander, attaches and passes. I open DarkraiEX. I draw, attach a Darkness and Eviolite. Pass. He Rare Candies to Charizard, drops a CelebiEX and uses N. He gets early Split Bombs going, but I decide to just leave him with a single Charizard and take out everything else as he tried to set it up. I proceeded to take out 3 Charmanders and CelebiEX. I finished off the game by doing 90 with Meloetta for my last prize card.
[1-0]

Round 2: Durant/Garbodor/Sableye
I really didn’t want to play against this deck, mainly because of Crushing Hammer. I get a couple early prizes off of Pokemon Catcher of Trubbish. He gets his stream of Hammers going and I would estimate about 5 turns in a row went as follows: He uses two Crushing Hammer, I Junk Hunt for Energy Switch and Dark Patch. I eventually got down to two prizes, however, two crucial Durant mills that resulted in me losing: Computer Search, Energy Retrieval, 2 energies, and 2 N. Good game though!
[1-1]

Round 3: Empoleon/Garchomp
I knew that there was no way he played a MewtwoEX in his deck and I also knew that MewEX was no longer being played in Empoleon decks, so I went agro MewtwoEX. It had six energy on it at one point. I got three quick KO’s via Pokemon Catcher before the game slowed down a bit. It ended up becoming 1 prize to 2 in my favor when I drew my Computer Search. I got a Pokemon Catcher and KO’s his Emolga for the game via my MewtwoEX (Emolga had an energy and 30 damage from a prior DarkraiEX attack).
[2-1]

LUNCH – TIME TO PLAY KAIJUDO!

Round 4: Zekrom/Eelektrik
Zekrom is just an annoying card to deal with, especially with Eviolite. Prior to this game I said that I was worried about opening Meloetta, although not a lot of people were using MewtwoEX in their deck. So of course, I open with a lone Meloetta. Luckily he flips over TornadusEX and simply attaches a Double Colorless Energy and does 30 damage. I sacrifice the Meloetta and get my DarkraiEX ready. I do take a prize via MewtwoEX/Pokemon Catcher on Tynamo and Pokemon Catcher on TornadusEX that had 100 damage, doing 30 to an Eelektrik. He ends up getting the dreaded Zekrom + Eviolite going. He used Pokemon Catcher on a Sableye to KO it. I bring up DarkraiEX and to 70 + 30 to an Eelektrik. The following turn I Pokemon Catcher’d a fresh Eelektrik after powering up a new DarkraiEX and took two prizes to make it 2 to 1. We are both out of Pokemon Catcher and I retreat DarkraiEX to get Sableye, using Junk Hunt to get back a Pokemon Catcher. I Pokemon Catcher Zekrom next turn and KO it for game.
[3-1]

Round 5: DarkraiEX/Terrakion
Unfortunately this game wasn’t that exciting. He opened Sableye and used Bianca, and that was the only Supporter he saw the whole game. I just waited a couple of turns until I had a MewtwoEX powered up and KO’d the Sableye for game.
[4-1]

Top 4: I make it in as the #4 seed
(1) DarkraiEX/Terrakion v (4) DarkraiEX/MewtwoEX
(2) DarkraiEX/LandorusEX v (3) DarkraiEX/Sableye/Crushing Hammer

Top 4: DarkraiEX/Terrakion
Game 1: I don’t draw a Darkness Energy for the first four turns of the game and scoop.
Game 2: I go all out MewtwoEX (I believe it ended up with 6-7 Energy on it) and he couldn’t recover from my fast start.
Game 3: He opened Terrakion to my MewtwoEX. He drew – passed from his first three turns and I won on that third turn.
(2-1)
[6-2]

Top 2: DarkraiEX/LandorusEX
Game 1: He opened strong and got his DarkraiEX up and swinging fast. I dropped down my Sigilyph and the game slowed down. I did have a DarkraiEX and MewtwoEX on the field, so I knew that he could get down to a single prize (He had already KO’d my Sableye). He went for the agro Terrakion approach to take out my Sigilyph’s, however, I was able to Pokemon Catcher them and get rid of them fast before they did any real damage. I was 3 prizes to 2 in my favor when I decided that I wasn’t going to wait to him to retrieve his Terrakion’s with Super Rod, and I couldn’t attack with Sigilyph at the moment. I had a DarkraiEX on the bench with 150 and decided that I was going to put the pressure on him to get his Eviolite on his next turn or the game would be over. I drop another DarkraiEX and Double Dark Patch and attach, that way if my other DarkraiEX was KO’d… I still had an out to win. I attacked his LandorusEX and did 90. He was able to KO my DarkraiEX, but failed to get the Eviolite (turns out it was prized), and I won on the next turn.

Game 2: I open Sableye, him DarkraiEX… attach pass. I drop down Sigilyph and then Confuse Ray… heads. He gets LandorusEX and does 30. I draw and attach a Psychic to Sigilyph… Confuse Ray… tails. He draws and plays Pluspower… knocking out my Sableye. I bring up Sigilyph and do 70. He drops a Terrakion and attaches… passing. I Pokemon Catcher the Terrakion, drop a Sigilyph, attach to the benched Sigilyph and do 60 damage. He ends up attaching, using Energy Switch, AND playing an Eviolite on Terrakion so that I couldn’t revenge KO with Psychic. I bring up Sigilyph, drop MewtwoEX and use Computer Search to grab a Double Colorless… KO’ing Terrakion. He brings up LandorusEX and does 30 (Turns out an N that I played on my last turn really messed him up since he has 150 on my MewtwoEX). I draw and drop another Double Colorless… doing 100 to KO the LandorusEX. He gets DarkraiEX and KO’s my MewtwoEX eventually (not before I was able to get it up to 150 damage). I bring up my lone Sigilyph. I check his discard pile and see that he has already played 3 Energy Switch, so I knew that I was safe from a surprise Terrakion drop along with the Energy Switch for KO’s. I attach a Darkness to Sigilyph and pass. He ends up using Super Rod and putting back Terrakion along with 2 Fighting Energy. He then proceeds to Junk Hunt for 2 Energy Switch I believe. I draw and play a DarkraiEX, use double Dark Patch, attach, and retreat for the 3 prize KO on Sableye and DarkraiEX.
(2-0)
[8-2]

So I won! This brings me to 87 CP this season (I know it isn’t that impressive, but hey, at least I have some!). My ½ box had CresseliaEX, LandorusEX, and Full Art Bianca.

Major grats, Josh. As always, I really enjoyed watching you play. The final three turns of finals game 2 were hilarious. Way to next level your opponent :D Again, good job ;D

Congrats!
I was also playing a similar deck: the DSM 4(Darkrai, Sableye, Sigiliph, Mewtwo) on Saturday, ending the day at 3-2. My losses were to a t2 KO on my lone Sigiliph by Blastoise and Darkrai/Hydreigon. Any tips on the Hydreigon match? Glad to see someone else is doing well with it. Good luck!

@Z-man: If he wanted to try and play mind games... I figured I would do the same ;P

@honch: I wish I had some magical advice, but seeing as the only games I played with the deck were yesterday... I would say that if you run Enhanced Hammer it can help (stopping various techs), and aside from that... it's just like any game against Hydreigon... take out Deino... you win. lol.
