2 of 3 games - how it is judged

Steve, with you having the most experience in 2/3 matches, I would like your reaction to making the elimination system all next prize wins, to make it uniform and easier to understand.

My comment comes NOT from experience because none of our CC tournaments did Top X (I now wish that we did) and our Colorado States Top X only had one match called by time (after 1 hour in the 3rd game) with one player ahead by prizes.

Nevertheless, if and when we DO face the situation, I'd probably do a 5-turn extension ONLY because that's what OUR players are used to doing (only for elim rounds at local tournaments). But, I'd consider sudden death to be okay too, and perhaps better for PTOs who need to consider time issues.

Thanks for bringing this up M45. I'd guess I better plan for that situation. Unless I hear differently from you on this post, I'll be consistant with what you're doing down South and do Sudden Death in the 1st/3rd game at our Gym Challenge. (However, I won't go so far as to ignore incomplete 2nd games in the playoffs. )
