Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 Modified Format announced!

man, it's sad, but I've been ready for this for almost a year now, my two main decks consist of only DP and onward cards

It's gonna make me feel really sad when I disassemble my Flygon ex deck later this summer. It was my first modified deck and we had some good times together this season that started with it being proxied during the GE prerelease, going 2-5 at regoinals, being smacked around at league for a while, and eventually ended with it winning a battle roads last weekend.

This is the first format where there honestly will not be that great of a shift in metagame.

I understand key trainers will be rotated, but every format has seen that.
BUT there are very few pokemon in the ex sets. The DP sets have shifted the face of the game.

I'm going to miss my scrambles :'(
Still a good format, now we need good trainers and some kind of energy manipulation.

NOOO, not my Celio's Network(s)!!!! :( I guess this means I'll have to PUT A CARD BACK FROM MY HAND to search for a pokemon. @_@ And my double rainbows are going out the window.

Oh? And everything PK- is inferior? The league is going to go haywire when I bring the news (for those who haven't heard of my local league, all the kids (noobs) think PK- is worth less than nothing.):nonono:

When did I ever say that? With GG pretty much finished come this rotation, I can actually play some of the cards in the huge stack of DP-On stuff, while actually having a chance at a decent record. BTW don't be so biased towards PK-On just because there's Delcatty there. I wonder, is that also why asked me if anything PK down is inferior?

Good Bye Gardy/Gallade Say with me
GOOD BYE GARDY/GALLADE
Thanx goodness... Ahh What a format it will be No
Gardy/Gallade :thumb::thumb:

As you can tell I hated Gardy/Gallade with A PASSION!!

ummm..I don't get it, why would G&G be going out? They are perfectly legal....from Secret Wonders.

Well, well, well....

First of all - our current format are heavily relys on THREE KEY CARDS that keeps the deck consistency going - which are CELIOs, DREs, and SCRAMBLEs, which will be rotated out. Roseanne is other card that keep deck consistency but it will still be there next format.

I am really happy since it will marks the end of Gardelade. Yes. This is true.

Anyways, espect a really indepth article of the next format coverage which will get you started... COMING SOON to a TOP CUT near you. :) (I have been working on it for like 6 weeks and like 85% complete).

Cya for now :)

^ Erhm LOL, ROFLMAO, ROFLCOPTERS.

Now back onto topic, DRE is gone and thats a great thing, But scramble, it let you win even if you had a terrible start. Celio's is also going to be missed, as it allowed decks to have extra searching cards, for example 4 bebe's 1 celios vice versa.

It's going to change more than you think. Some of the cards that make those DP Pokemon so good are leaving.

Of course there will be a change, but it ain't gonna change the face of the game like the other formats have done. For the most part, the top decks we have now will have to find replacements for those trainers and DREs and Scrambles, but they are still viable.

One things for sure though, we will finally start to see a slower format OR a format dominated by speed decks.
With Double Rainbow Energy and Scramble energy being dominant energy choices in nearly every deck, there was a constant "need for speed", meaning your time to setup was minimal so as to abuse DREs early game potential. BUT an extra turn of energy attachment to replace DRE is going to increase the amount of time a person has to setup. One extra turn can make a huge difference in the game.
I believe speed decks will be given a little boost because of the slowing setup time.
But I guess we will have to wait to find out.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

GG puts heavy emphasis on DRE and Scramble, more than any other deck in the format, so having those energy cards gone significantly reduces the speed of the deck and makes it less of a force. In the current format, Rare Candy and DRE turn 2 is not uncommon but now GG can't abuse that mechanic so it will see a significant drop in its power and play.

BUT, while y'all are celebrating the death of GG, I am still contemplating its viability.
True, it no longer can abuse DRE and Scramble BUT neither can any other deck. The Gardy/Gallade pokemon line is still an amazing group of Pokemon and their powers and attacks will still be above average. I still think GG has a chance, but we will see.
