Mr. Stone's Project snags two Basic Energy cards, and at the time earned its Supporter status by giving you the choice of searching out those cards from your deck or retrieving them from the discard pile instead. This was generally most useful for decks that ended up discarding Energy for potent effects (namely attacks).

I could definitely seem a use for that here; Emboar (with Inferno Fandango) suffers because even if it isn't using an attacker that discards Energy, KOs happen. Having tried to build a BW-On deck backed by the big pig myself, that really is the problem; sometimes you have your Energy recursion cards before you have Energy in the discard pile, and late game it isn't fun to get a Cilan when you know your deck has run dry (of Energy).

Even in general, as I have found a lot of my decks work better with a TecH Clian, or even two copies of Cilan, so too could Mr. Stone's Project be worthwhile. It may be a little different when we get another Supporter or two for competition, but unless they surprise us with something in Dragons Exalted, this really would solve some issues I've been encountering.

Due to wanting your Supporter for raw draw power (which can sometimes get the Energy you need or the Items you need to get the Energy), the average deck might not need Mr. Stone's Project. If you're just worried about getting one copy of a few off-type Energy you plan on running (or just need to "fake" a higher Energy count for draw purposes) you have Energy Search. If you just need two basic Energy from the discard pile, you have Energy Retrieval to grab the two Energy from the discard Mr. Stone's Project would.

Even upping your count of Super Rod and relying on normal draw power (or Cilan, as mentioned earlier) will help the average deck as much. At least for now, players don't have a good Pokemon to aid in drawing or searching the deck, something we have grown accustomed to, and while being weaned off of it we had a wider selection of useful Supporters.

So for some decks this will be a "no". For most it will be a "maybe", and for decks like Emboar it would probably be a minimum of a three in deck.

Gotta say i'd leer more over Miss Rossy's Research project than salty old Mr. Stone'a any day. Although i see this as a more consistant repacement for Cillian in the few decks that can utilize him, being able to search fromt he discard pile or the deck. Still, i think almost any vanilla straying supporter (aka, not Bill/Mom's Kindess level useless) is an "If only" at this point. We could really use some more Supporter diversity.

Mr. Stones Project is the only rotated supporter that I still have. I was just talking about this card at league on Saturday. I think it's a very good card in the right circumstances.
