I really tried to find a use for this card but one cant be found. This is a prime example of one of those cards that would be good in a limited format with special rules. There is no real reason for the card to exist. All the cards of this Pokemon are just plain suck. This BW sets dont do justice to most Pokemon as over 90 percent of the card pool is just filler and has no place in the game. Outside of collectors, tere is no real reason to buy cards. This card has 100 HP that can be boosted to 140 with the use of a stadium and a Poketool but this requires a lot of space in the deck. Its ability is nice as it forces your opponent to switch out their active but Braviary has to be active. It my testing, this was always a issue because I had to make weird plays and use a lot of reources. You're better off using catcher. Its attack can do 80 damage if you want to take 20 damage. Its not bad but you only have 100 HP. Its just not worth it unless your opponent cant get much going. Its 2 energy retreat cost makes it hard to move. No bird in the game should have a retreat most more then 1 and those in their final form should have a retreat cost of 0.

I dont know who designs these cards but its clear they do not test them at all. This card was a promo in Japan for a reason and should have been one here as well. Its annoying knowing you waste money on these sets. Its normally not worth looking at cards not ultra rare and this proves it.

Really really average. The attack is not worth evolving for. HP and retreat suck. Ability can come be disruptive, but a) it must be active and b) it lets the opponent choose who comes out.

Not a horrible card, but not a very impressive one either.

wow, Vaporeon really had a go at the BW block . He basically said what we're all thinking, and this card is no exception.

I looked at Braviary as a tech against Gothitelle decks. You know, Accelgor paralyzes your active and Gothitelle makes you not able to do anything but draw-pass. Because the deck tends to fill the bench (needs a Mew EX, Accelgor, Keldeo EX, and Darkrai EX at the same time), if the only Gothitelle is the active one, Big Wing could be the break though to give you back control of the game. However, unlike other pokemon with a similar effect (I'm thinking Infernape-4 lvX), Braviary's attack is undesirable. I won't say it is bad. :colorless::colorless::colorless: for straight 60 and you can choose to do +20 if you want. Against a Keldeo/Blastoise deck, you could pick off Squirtles before they evolve by using Big Wing to force the Active Keldeo EX back to the bench and making the benched Squirtle become active.

It has to be active though. It doesn't make any sense to make Abilities, which already leave so much to be desired after the mechanic they replaced opened up the game so much, so awkward. Again, unlike Infernape-4 lvX (which had to be active for its first turn in play), Braviary has 2 retreat. At first, I thought it must just be one big bird but it is only 90 lbs! I don't get it. Pidgeot is only 3 lbs lighter and has never had greater than 1 retreat. Aerodactyl weighs in at 130 and has had 2 retreat in the past. Maybe Braviary just came back to PCL from a large lunch when they decided its retreat cost the day they made the card  . Back on topic, it means you have to pull off some weird plays to get Braviary active, use the ability, and then get it back to the bench.

On top of the retreat cost, it having 100 HP is salt in the wound.

Reprinting Cyclone Energy would have been an all-around better decision. But this card has pretty good artwork so we should have expected it to be bad :nonono:

What's sad is this card probably wouldn't even be broken if it could use the ability on the bench... And now it is horrible because it is forced to be active.

Definitely not worth a spot :(

Above posters summed this card up pretty well. Something worth noting is that Rufflet has an attack that fetches two Pokemon with fighting resistance, making it pretty easy to get out. But again, Lightning weakness is brutal right now and it can't be searched with Level or Heavy Balls. It can abuse Aspertia, Giant Cape, and Double Colorless, not to mention it's splashable for slight disruption. Overall, a bad card.
