In the Pokémon TCG City Championship tournaments, players in each of the three recognized age divisions can work toward earning Championship Points, increasing their chance of earning awards or even an invitation to the World Championships in San Francisco, California in August 2016.

The Pokémon TCG City Championships do not require an invitation or qualification. All players in good standing are welcome to participate.

TIME: Registration 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. City Championships Events will begin approximately 10 a.m. (depending on attendance and number of players needing to be registered)

ENTRY FEE:

• Junior and Senior Division Players are FREE
• Masters Division - $10.00/player – CASH ONLY

REQUIREMENTS:

• Your Play! Pokémon Player ID#. Be certain that your account is activated and you’ve opted into player rankings to be awarded Play! Points and Championship Points.
o If you are 13 years old and older you may sign up for your own Pokémon Trainer Club account at www.pokemon.com (Make sure to make note of your username & password so you can log back into your account.) Once you have done this, please go to your Play! Pokémon Settings page and either add a Play! Pokémon Player ID# you received at a previous event, or have a number assigned to you.
o If you are under 13 years old, you MUST have your parent set up a Pokémon Trainer Club account in his/her name first and then use the + ADD Child button to set up the Pokémon Trainer Club account for you as the child. Once that process is complete, then your parent can get you the Play! Pokémon Player ID# at your Play! Pokémon Settings page.

• Standard - Modified 60 card deck.
o **As of 11/25/15 Current Standard Format is XY – XY - BREAKthrough** See www.pokemon.com or the Researching Tower at www.pokegym.net for verification of additional cards which are included in Standard Format that are not in the XY sets.
o REMINDER: Lysandre’s Trump Card has been banned.

• Legal & Legible decklist. http://pokegym.net/decklist/ Be sure to use Blank Deck/Standard to create your decklist. There will also be blank decklists at the venues for you to use, but it is always appreciated when players use the one at PokéGym.

• YOUR OWN dice, damage counters, randomizers and special condition markers.

• PLAY! POKÉMON TCG RULES and FORMATS & PLAY! POKÉMON GENERAL EVENT RULES It is every player’s responsibility to read, periodically review for any updates and understand these rules when attending events. AGE DIVISIONS: (As of 7/13/15 - 2015-2016 season)

Junior Division - born in 2005 or later
Senior Division - born in 2001, 2002, 2003, or 2004
Masters Division - born in 2000 or earlier

FORMAT: These City Championships Events will be played as follows:

• Swiss Rounds – Single-Game Matches = 30 minutes + 3 turns.
• Top Cut Rounds – Best-of-Three Matches = 60 minutes + 3 turns.

If you log into www.pokemon.com and scroll to the bottom of the page you will see logos for the various Championship events. If you click a logo it will take you to a FAQ document for that particular event. Use the arrows on the right and left to scroll through the menu of different events. It’s a good idea to keep this bookmarked for future reference so you know where to find this information as you need it.

Prizes are awarded to the top players in each of three age divisions. Players MUST have a Pokémon Trainer Club account that has been activated by attaching your Play! Pokémon Player ID#. Players must be opted in to the Play! Pokémon program in order to earn points.

All participants will receive 2 Play! Points just for playing!

POKÉMON CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT SCHEDULE

SUNDAY 1/3/16 Batter Up Cards & Comics, 1830 Main Street, Tewksbury MA 01876 (978) 640-1586 Seating for approximately 85-100. There are multiple lunch choices within walking distance. There are snacks and drinks for purchase in store also. This location is diagonally across the street just north of the Mack’s Ice Cream Stand. It is between the gym and the Laundromat in a small plaza down a little side street/entrance road. There is an entrance in the front of the building next to the Laundromat or feel free to drive around back and come in the back entrance. There is plenty of parking out back.

SATURDAY 1/9/16 St. Ann’s Shea Parish Center, 103 North Main Street, West Bridgewater MA 02379 For those who attended Massachusetts State Championships 2015, this is the same location. This location is easy to find off the main highway and there is a spacious parking lot. Enter into the parking lot just beyond the Church and Rectory building. Seating available for 100+ as needed. There will be snacks and drinks available for sale. I am working on a plan for pizza to be delivered to sell for lunch.

SUNDAY 1/10/16 Harrison’s Comics & Pop Culture, 252 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970 Seating for approximately 60-70 players. The store has snacks and drinks available for purchase. There are some food choices available for lunch including Pizza, Dunkin Donuts and a café nearby. Parking is available on the street and in a public lot near the store, along with behind the bank across the street. Parking is free on Sundays.

SATURDAY 1/16/16 Global Learning Charter Public School, 190 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford MA 02746 www.glcps.org *Use the Nye Street entrance. You’ll see the railing and the overhang above the doorway. This entrance is adjacent to the parking lot that is shared by the Church* Seating available for 100-120 + as needed. There will be several lunch choices, snacks and drinks available for sale onsite.

CAUTION – WEATHER Information! Be mindful of the weather! City Championships Events run right through winter in New England. If for any reason, there has to be a change in any event scheduling, I will post on Facebook through my own page, through the Facebook NH & MA Event & Information page, and through email if there is time. PLEASE ALWAYS use your own judgement based on your own traveling experiences and distances and the weather conditions where you have to travel.
