Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A host for league in Sarasota FL?

tournaments in florida is kewl, but we should stay on topic here. Unless we actually find a time when we can get together this league isn't going to happen. Toyopia seems to be agreeable we should meet there some time. (toyopia is at the newly named "westfield" mall, formerly sarasota square mall, not to be confused with the other newly named "westfield" mall several miles away in southgate. -_-) Now to be specific and define 'some time'. I would prefer saturday the 18th of october, today is tuesday so hopefully everyone sees this before saturday. we should meet at toyopia. I very strongly suggest that everyone who is interested in this league download AIMessenger, or use Aim Express or QuickBuddy(the later two require no permanent installation, it is very useful when you're on a computer that you can't download stuff to) and get a free account. It really is easy and risk free(and actually free), and provides a more reliable and easier way to communicate than email. Jim and I already have screenames there and my screename is 'e l s a k o o', IM me when you download it so i'll know you're coming. Jim please send me a message to tell wether you can come or not, I hope to see you all online

(P.S. i swear this westfield guy is taking over sarasota. perhaps we will seceed and form the republic of westfield)

I can't believe the name has changed - how did I miss that? We just did Teen Fest there like 3 week ago and Kathy, the head marketing person for the mall, didn't mention it. But anyway

Oct 18th sounds good, unless I have to go to Orlando (Will know today or tomorrow) What time is good for you? I'm feeling a lot better, so Bobby and I can get there. We need to get together information about the NOA leauge - how much kits cost, etc, so that we are totally informed when we pitch the idea to Toyopia.

My S/n is SSj Jimbohan (with the space)

I'm not sure about about everything, but I know the "League Leader" and any assistants have to be at least 18 years old. The store has to agree t sponsor the league(duh). I can get back with more later.

I'm 21, so we're good on the age issue.

this seems most likely the document we should show to toyopia. PDF format. READ: http://op.pokemon-tcg.com/league/LeagueSeasonONEinstructs.pdf

contains league procedures and instructions/suggestion where/when to hold it, basically everything you must know. some changes from Wizard's format(EX: leagues can be held in non store areas like churches and community centers) so don't skip over it thinking you already know it.

there's also reporting stuff for ladder matches, but i don't know the procedure for determining player's results. does anyone know where the document is that defines that or does it come with league kits....?

PS, is it just me or does the nintendo tcg site seem disorganized? i seem to be going around in circles and cant find necessary info. like how much league kits cost, wehter a professor is needed to have a league, and other stuff i havent thought of yet

Hey guys, if we want to get together sometime EVENTUALLY, i need some response from you guys, and perhaps a reliable way of contacting you in case soemthing comes up. Jim seems to be the only one able to contact me, perhaps everyone interested should email me their phone number?(i will not share it with anyone else at all unless i have your specific permission) that way i can find a weekend when most everyone can come and notify you if there is any last minute changes, something we currently seem incapable of doing.

EDIT: we must get together soon, my pokemon cards are beginning to atrophy! my binder is probably three inches thinner than it was a month ago and my holofoils im sure have scratches!

sarasota league!

When i started my group in fort lauderdale 9 months ago, we had 4 people and just played at the mall food court where others could see us. We now have 45 players and are hosted by 2 seperate card shops. After awhile you could ask your favorite food place to use their address to order the league kits and do it yourself. For many reasons winter haven might not be a good idea. If you would like more help on the subject,, i am the t.o. for the big fort lauderdale tournament on nov 8th, Just ask for bk and ill show you how it is done...later

I take offense to that. Other than the 1hour drive from St. Pete to WInter Haven, what's wrong with Winter Haven? I've attended league there since Wizards started the league. Our league is run by Heidi Craig, whom you should know gets the job done due to the number of Premiere Tourneys she's organized all over Florida the past few years. And, I believe she's one of the judges at the tournament on the 8th.

sorry your so easily offended!

I neither say anything bad about hiedi or winter haven,, i am merely pointing out that a league is needed in the sarasota area and that someone should take the time to start one. Moving that far to play can only damage the game in time. Also, you are incorrect about the judges. Even though has said she will come to play nov 8th,, that probably wont work out for her as busy as she is,,, that is why she was not bothered to judge. Besides,, we have many judges already. This tournament is one of six,,, and i am looking for a spot to hold one in the west coast area,,, too bad there are none available/

I'm sorry about that post. I agree the St. Pete area does need their own, but what upset me was that you said there were many resons not to go to the Winter Haven league. Although the only reason is distance. The reason I brought up Heidi, is because as far as "league leaders" go, she as good as there is. Next time, I'll think before I type.

no offense taken.

That is the main reason,, but you must understand,,, the other less motivated kids in the area need something to pull them in, as well as, and growth in attendance at a league there will only add to hiedi's attendance at premier events. We would all like more competion again. About 20 or ss players in our league we recruited directly from the ugioh league. Once w show them a fun time,, they leave the darker games and come on over. When i took over the league, there was 4 pokemon players and 80 ugioh. Now we have 48 pokemon and only about 15 ugioh. Good thing i took time to fine the fine fight. Sarasota should too/.

I really appreciate all the feedback and the help. BK, I will see you on the 8th - I'm looking forward to seeing how your tourney is put together.

Excellant!

People like you is what I spend time here for! Glad yopu are coming and would like to meet some from the west coast. Back in the 70's I lived in a small sleepy town named Nokomis I believe it was called. The Sarasota mall was new. What a beautiful place. Please start a gym there. I spent some time on the phone with pokemon usa this week, and they are looking for small groups to support. Give us a place,, and we will come to visit! One word of caution! When I stated this idea everybody said it would not be big news, so I booked it at dragon's lair, since they could handle a small crowd. we may now have over a hundred people! It will be cramped,,, but a whole lot of fun!

Great!

Are you serious? a hundred people? well, we've got 4 coming from Sarasota.

As for our leauge, I'm just waiting to hear back from POP.
iT SEEMS QUITE POSSIBLE FROM WHAT WE HEAR. pRESENTLY, 80 HAVE CONFIRMED THEIR INTENT TO COME. wALK INS SHOULD AT THAT RATE i FIGURE SHOULD BE ABOUT 20 OR SO. wHO KNOWS ,,,,MAYBE ONLY 10 WILL SHOW,,, BUT, i THINKING THIS IS ONLY GONNA BE BIG. tHE NEXT WILL BE AT 12 DRAGON'S IN HOLLYWOOD FLORIDA IN JANUARY, WHICH INCLUDES A RED,BLUE,YELLOW GAME BOY TOURNAMENT,,"UNLIMITED OF COURSE". tHAT SHOULD BE WILD! tHE THIRD SHOULD BE IN ORLANDO AROUND MARCH OR SO,,, NO IDEAS ABOUT THE LAST THREE YET. bUT WEST COAST, AND NORTH FLORIDA WOULD BE GOOD. hOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL VOLUNTEER. tHE FINAL SHOWDOWN WE ARE PLANNING FOR NEXT FALL. aLL THE PREVIOUS WINNERS COMING TOGETHER TO BATTLE IT OUT FOR A VERY LARGE TROPHY. wONT THAT BE COOL?
