One June 5th at Brookfield's Prerelease, Broken Lizard and I came across a question pertaining to Ancient Technical Machine [Ice].

Q. Would Fossils that your opponent has in play be discarded as well?

We did realize that Fossils count as Basic Pokemon when in play, but they are still a Trainer card that has been put into play.

Fossil Trainer cards have the text: While in play, ** Fossil counts as a {C} Pokemon (instead of a Trainer card).

Instead means just that - it is a {C} Pokemon, not a Trainer card.
