Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Attendance at the Sandstorm Prereleases

We had 103-players in the "EX-Sandstorm Tournament" that paid their $15.00/head. We had 48 in the "GBA" Tournament. Those that played in the "GBA" also played in the "EX-Sandstorm". (If it had not rained earlier in morning, the numbers would have been higher.) :D

Very nice showing, congrates to you and your area. :thumb:

Man, it just shows the game is not dead at all. St. Louis had 37 (Edit from 36, forgot about the bye each round, had 18 active tables), and that was with just finding out about the event within 9 days. I know with any amount of time ahead we could have broken 50-60, for a lot of people came just to the store, and were shocked to see the crowd, and would have joined if they were in time.

I cannot wait until the Dragon Prerelease....50 players or BUST!!!

Talk to you all soon!

I don't have the breakdown stats, the turnout seemed to be fairly even. In total there were 42 participants for the Toronto Sandstorm pre-release.

And some of us had to drive 2 hours to get to the Plano event, too!

However, it was totally worth the drive, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. No one knows how to have fun like us Pokémon players, eh? Eh?! :thumb:

we had a smaller turnout in Colorado than expected. we had 31 players (only 3 players from outside Colorado Springs). The 20+ players from Denver, Ft Collins, and WY didn't make the trek south. :( We had 9-11 players in each age category and ran three separate tournaments. The new Nintendo tournament software doesn't have the age-modified option yet. After the main tournament, we held a small GBA side-event with 7 players.

look on the bright side of stuff Steve, at least you got to have one. I know how much you were hoping to have some major tournaments in your area, and now you got then, so don't worry, be happy :D

Hmmm....good to see that the overall #`s are up from the Ruby & Sapphire events....goes to show you what we said about including Gameboy as part of the event...;)

I also feel that the $20 was a bit much and may have kept the #`s down.I know that I`ve seen bigger #`s in some of the places that had SBZ`s.Like DaytonGymLeader said,it should be in the $10 to $15 range. If you keep the costs down,it helps alot of the people, especially the kids and the families that have multiple people entering the event.

The only other factor I feel kept the #`s down a bit was the "free trip/big prize" mentality...people will only go to these events if the prize(s) are "big".

Attendance at both European Sandstorm pre-releases was rather dissapoinitng. We had over 50 players turn up in London and a further 60 in Belgium. The event cost of $30 didn't seem to put any players off so next time we will raise the entry to $100.

NoPoke, I can't help it and just have to smile about some of your sarcastic replies. But I don't think it helps anyone or anything in the end...

Wasn't trying for sarcasm... going for Irony.

I'm playing 'Bad Cop' at the moment...I was told by someone that the squeaky wheel gets oiled.

so

SQUEAK SQUEAK.

I'm not trying to disrupt the thread but it is very frustrating to have people complain about the cost of the events. Don't anyone ever post anything about the cost of Gasoline ;)

 I would like to say thank you for the kind remarks about the Plano Ex-Sandstorm Event. I don't know who you are are where Syrup Island is? But anyone from there is welcome in my backyard any day. I am glad that you and the the other players had FUN!!! Having fun is what these tournaments are all about. Take care. :thumb:

There is no doubt in my mind that the reason why the turnout never did turn out, is because a good majority of Colorado is still a bit disorganized for organized play. I am now responcible for the tournaments held monthly at one league in Denver, and maybe (but unlikely) to become gym leader at the one in Fort Collins. I am more active in our area to stir up game play and feel that game play opportunities for our players will only increase even more as time progresses.

Hmm, but i think it sounded great.. I wish they could have a prerelase in Norway when sandstorm reaches us.. :p

I had asked Jimmer and Co for a pre-release in Europe several weeks ago. But it was thought unlikely for Sandstorm and who knows for Dragons.

A Dragon Prerelease could be something to maybe shot for then. Just start to work on it now with him and see what happens.
