Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Befriend a Pokemon! Play for an special Eeveelution!

You need to pass five (?) levels in order to "win" the Eeveelution; getting a high score isn't finishing the game.

Advise me, guys.

I don't think any of the Eeveelutions are any more playable even with their Dream World abilities, except in Doubles, which I don't know much about. If I am wrong here let me know.

For doubles...
- Glaceon is my favorite Pokemon, and Ice Body is cool for Hail teams because it boosts Glaceon's defensiveness which is always awesome. It gives me the choice between pure def (dream world Glaceon) and an evade (normal Glaceon). Kinda cool.
- Vaporeon seems handy. Hydration made Manaphy cool. It does allow Vaporeon to full heal instantly with Rest in the rain. Not sure if it's better than Glaceon or some others.
- Inner Focus Umbreon sounds kinda awesome, not gonna lie, although Umbreon does not seem terribly helpful in doubles.

Singles:
- Magic Bounce Espeon, what? Is that even any good?
- Hydration Vaporeon, again.

Who do I get

EDIT: Okay, I looked up Magic Bounce. THAT IS GLORIOUS FOR SINGLES. I am getting Espeon because that ability is absolutely insane. Unless someone tells me otherwise.

EDIT AGAIN: is it possible to get Baton Pass onto Dream World eeveelutions?

Leafeon w/ Chlorophyll is noteworthy in for Double Battle Drought teams, too. Double speed is nothing to scoff at.

Also, to answer your question, no Baton Pass Eeveelutions won't be legal, as these DW Eeveelutions will always be male (like they were in Japan) and they don't come with Baton Pass. DW abilities can only be passed to the offspring if the DW pokemon is FEMALE. Therefore, DW ability Eeveelutions with any egg/pre-evolution moves will be illegal... which sucks...

Jolly Leafeon is already pretty fast. I don't see much point to Chlorophyll since you aren't going to outrun Priority and since it's already 300+.

Espeon needs Baton Pass imo. The idea would have been to swap it in against a status move, Calm Mind once or twice, and then attack or BP depending on the opponent's moves. Without BP I'm not sure it's worth passing up Ice Body Glaceon or Hydration Vaporeon.

Still taking advice though.

Magic Bounce (From Bulbapedia):

Reflects the effect of all stat lowering status moves (excluding Memento), non-damaging Status ailment inducing moves, entry hazard causing moves, moves like Taunt and Torment, and so on back to the user. Does not affect targets with Teravolt, Turboblaze, or Mold Breaker. Magic Bounce will only activate once a turn. If two opposing Pokémon have this ability only the target's Magic Bounce will reflect the move (i.e. the move will only be reflected once). Magic Bounce reflects the same moves that Magic Coat does.

So yes, IMO that is AMAZINGLY good.

EDIT: As stupid as I am, I just looked back at your post and realized you looked it up. But I'll leave this here for others to see when they read the comments.

It IS amazingly good. Absolutely spectacular. Here's the thing. It's probably only all that great in singles.

Espeon's movepool is limited. It can be quite disruptive, with Magic Bounce, Magic Coat and Trick from Gen IV; it can bulk up with Calm Mind and damage with Psychic. But it has no heal move, so it can't act as a true tank.

Its niche has been Calm Mind Baton Passing. Magic Bounce gives it incredible switching ability. And between that and Trick it can be quite a pain to deal with. But without Baton Pass (which you CANNOT get onto a Magic Bounce Espeon) what good is it really?

Well I run mine with Psychic, Shadow Ball, Grass Knot, and Hidden Power Ice.
I doubt it's likely that I'll get one with a good nature nor Hidden Power Ice.

I doubt at this point I'll even finish the game since my computer won't quit lagging, the paddle hits the ball twice in a second and throws it down, and my arrow always likes to drift out of the box and the paddle will completely stop.

I'll do it in the morning, when my brain can function again.

Espeon doesn't need Baton Pass, that's just the mold everyone is used to seeing it in. It's still pretty fast (110) and has a monster SpA (130), so it's pretty deadly without the need for Calm Mind + Baton Pass.

Not to mention, you can abuse it's ability by switching it in on the turn an opponent uses a move that can be bounced back.

Ugh, I only beat level 2....looks like I'll actually have to try now (gotta get Espeon, amazing ability and fave eeveelution).

It's pretty deadly before accounting for type coverage. Especially since the Dreamworld one only has access to Psychic, Hidden Power (have fun manipulating that?), Shadow Ball, and Grass Knot, it gets walled out by Steel-types and Dark-types unless you get a decent Fighting-type Hidden Power somehow.

It's ok to be walled if you have a plan B, but since it doesn't have Baton Pass...

Well that's why you have other Pokemon on your team. Everything gets walled by SOMETHING, there's no doubt about that.
I just woke up (late, of course) and I'm still trying to decide which one I want to go for.

You can reset for Hidden Power/Nature when you catch it on your cartridge. So it's not like it's hard to reset for those (Nature and IVs aren't set till you catch them in the Entralink forest)

Yeah, but for a sweeper to be completely walled by two rather common types besides having issues with several others (no SE against Water, Ice, Fire, Grass, Normal, Bug, Flying, Electric, Ground, or Dragon - that is, can't SE 10 out of 17 types) is pretty pathetic.

Hidden Power (Fighting), Psychic, Shadow Ball, and either Calm Mind or Trick? I don't know. I'm just not seeing it. Espeon's Sp. Atk is good, but it's not good enough to sweep without bigger movepool than that [granted, HP gives it options].

This is still worth noting though, in case I do want HP on something. I'd thank the post but I 'm apparently out for today?
