Best place in San Diego for Pokemon Cards

Hello,

I will be in San Diego for 2 weeks, and wonder if there is a good store that sells pokemon cards...possibly singles and pack.

I just assumes that because worlds has been held there, there would be a good selection or stores.

We will be there on the release date of DEX (Dragon Exalted), so wouldn't mind picking up some stuff for my boys.

Thanks in advance

I'd just say the regular places like...

Walmart, Target, KMart, etc...
I don't like there...

I believe others would be better aids to you.

^ if you're from canada, why are you answering a thread asking for info about san diego?

to the OP: in which area of san diego will you be staying? SD county is a fairly big place :)

i run a league at san diego games and comics, which is off the I-15 at mira mesa blvd. SDGC carries packs, singles and precon decks.

there are also game stores in the clairmont mesa area (game empire), vista (pair-a-dice games) and in lemon grove (gamezone). it's been a while since i've been to game empire and pair-a-dice, so i can't speak to the availability of product/singles there.

if you're planning to get product on release day, i'd call ahead to see if the store got their shipment; it seems the LGSs are sometimes the last to get the new stuff :(

hope this helps. i'll be running a prerelease this sunday in lemon grove if you'll be in SD then; more info can be found in the prerelease subforum or on the facebook page in my sig.

I'm just trying to be helpful? I didn't say that those were the only places... I found that comment quite rude to me TBH.

Awesome.....thanks for the reply.

I also am from Canada...LOL....hence the question!

We will be there from Aug 13-24th We are staying in Pacific Beach, but my sis in law lives right near SDSU. We will also be spending a weekend in Laguna Beach.

Which will be closest to Pacific Beach? If I found a good store, I would be a god to my son!

What day does your league run, and are "outsiders" also aloowed to play? lol

Thanks again for the info!

Thanks for the effort!

my league is on mondays, from 5 to 7 pm. visitors are always welcome; i have several new players who are on vacation from elsewhere attending now, in fact :) i will not be there on the 13th since i will still be in hawaii for worlds. there WILL be league though; my assistant LL (another parent/judge) will be supervising.

the closest store to the PB area would be game empire. it's on clairemont mesa blvd., just east of the 805 freeway. it's on the south side of the street, in the shopping center w/a starbucks and mcdonald's on the street side.

gamezone would be the closest store to the SDSU area. it's in lemon grove, which is southeast of the university area, off the 94 freeway.

as for the 'rude' comment: i find it more rude to come into a thread asking for specific information and post only to correct the OP instead of offer any answers, when context-wise it was very clear he was asking about dragons exalted and not dark explorers. ymmv...

hope this helps!

Once again...thank you.

We will be arriving on the 13th in the afternoon, and I am sure we will not be able to make it that night. We fly into John Wayne and have to drive to the house in PB, so we will be busy.

We WILL be there on the 20th, as it will fit right into our schedule. My son (who finished 12 at Canadian Nats in Jr) will be so excited.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing your league. I may even bring my deck, if masters play also.

If you dont mind, I may have more questions as the trips gets closer.

All the best, and again, thank you for the time!

Sean

i have lots of high school, college-age and parent masters who play, so you'd not be out-of-place at all :) hope to see you on the 20th! :)

^ be aware that many of the entries on that list are several years out of date.

for example: my league store is listed under it's OLD name, and shows the store's old address. SDGC moved to its current location over a year ago.
