i think the influence call energy is going to have on the game is grossly underestimated. not only will it further limit speed donk losses but it has the virtue of suddenly making many more lines of pokemon playable. lets face it, there are a lot of interesting stage 1 and stage 2 pokemon who do not see much play simply because their basic has a useless attack (10 damage for one energy? yipee!). the metagame is too fast and too rough for such plodding set ups and these otherwise interesting evolutions never make it to the battlefield. call energy has the potential to change all that. now suddenly ANY basic pokemon can become a CFF starter. i mean, the cff attack is probably the single most desirable attack on a basic form (i mean, beedrill would be untenable without it and it only cffs for one). of course the hazard is making sure you have a call energy on T1 but no system is perfect. i am just saying it opens the field to a lot of other deck potentials. but does have the added virtue of being neither a trainer, supporter or attack, which means it will be quick and that a lot of conventional disruption tactics will not work against it.
