i think the influence call energy is going to have on the game is grossly underestimated. not only will it further limit speed donk losses but it has the virtue of suddenly making many more lines of pokemon playable. lets face it, there are a lot of interesting stage 1 and stage 2 pokemon who do not see much play simply because their basic has a useless attack (10 damage for one energy? yipee!). the metagame is too fast and too rough for such plodding set ups and these otherwise interesting evolutions never make it to the battlefield.

call energy has the potential to change all that. now suddenly ANY basic pokemon can become a CFF starter. i mean, the cff attack is probably the single most desirable attack on a basic form (i mean, beedrill would be untenable without it and it only cffs for one). of course the hazard is making sure you have a call energy on T1 but no system is perfect. i am just saying it opens the field to a lot of other deck potentials. but does have the added virtue of being neither a trainer, supporter or attack, which means it will be quick and that a lot of conventional disruption tactics will not work against it.

The thing is the chances of getting the card is low and it really is good in the first 2 turns to decks that can only use the energy of it's type. In other decks it's just a waste of space because they could use another energy with decks taht use a lot of different energy.

Call Energy is gonna be the best card in MD, go ahead and quote me.

Just imagine how much better this makes some starters. Holon's Castform can now grab 2 basics then draw for them next turn. Phione can grab basics to evolve next turn. It gives other worthless basics something to do other than sit there and look pretty. It's pretty funny to use late game too...NM 2 basics back then get them on your bench.

Only problem is that it's not searchable, and it's not like having 4 of a starter because you have to mull away Call Energy if you don't have basics. Maybe with 4 Phione and 2 of something else it could be interesting.

...Unown Q. :/ That cards makes starting with the right card a lot easier, but unlike Call Energy, is searchable.

In my magmortar deck, there are plenty of cases where I don't start with a Pachirisu or a Tauros at all. Being able to switch quickly to those pokemon, and being able to search them out is key. Basic pokemon are the easiest card in the game to be able to find via a card effect, while special energies are quite arguably the most difficult card to find. Seems fairly easy to me which I'd rather rely on for starting my game.

Finally, about Call Energy... Though it isn't an attacker persay, it DOES end your turn like using an attack, which is one of the major reasons why I'd rather use Holon Mentor and Great Ball to find pokemon then an energy. :/

If you don't mind Chrome, I'm gonna go for a good laugh now.

    Okay, that behind us...

Call Energy is amazing. That said, it isn't THE BEST card EVER or anything. But think about it. Call Energy's ability to get you basics AND the ability to serve as Energy at once (Albeit White Energy) makes it a great little package and a Must-Have addition to any deck that doesn't need a heapload of ONE kind of energy to attack. Thats why I wouldn't use it in Magmortar, that thrives on big amounts of Fire, or Machamp, who needs 3 Fight Energy.
Yet Gardevoir/Gallade, who only need ONE specific energy to attack, would appreciate Call Energy, since Ralts...well, he ain't exactly the best starter either. Garchomp will LOVE it too, although he won't like having that energy stick around. Togekiss? Sign me up plz. Heck, even Eevee could use it to either prevent crummy starts with their techs or to fetch other stuff with Eevee (Such as afformentioned techs). Any deck with Phione start will love its ability to serve like an instant Roseanne.
T1 - Attach Call Energy to my lone Phione, get Baltoy and Random Poke X. T2, play my supporter, evolve my Baltoy to Claydol with Phione.
So whoever says Call Energy is trash...well...yeah.
Also Rai, I prefer using Mentor/Ball etc., but if you start, then whatcha gonna do?

Quoted! I think the fact you can only run four copies and non-searchable makes it a gambler's card. I'd rather play super scoop up going down that road. Something like searching out basics should increase consistency. Trying to do that with questionable consistency is just a contradiction!

You shouldn't use Call Nrg as a starter, but as an additional starter.
Eg you could kick out your roseannes for 4 call energy, the odds of getting call nrg are the same, but maybe call nrg works better for you than roseanne does.

I wouldnt drop Roseanne for Call NRG since Roseanne also counts for Energy Searching...

You guys are just insane, lol. Honestly, questioning the undeniably best card in the set is something I never thought I'd see here.

Call Energy doesn't take up as much space as a starter because it can act as some of your energy late in the game. It's called CARD ADVANTAGE. It's just like Roseanne's. Mr. Stone's was bad because it only got Energy. Roseanne's gets Energy AND 2 pokemon.

You guys obviously don't see the power in this card. Let me put it this way: You can cut your starters in a lot of decks for 4 Call Energy and 4 Rose. That doesn't mean you cut Furret in GG or something crazy like that. GG doesn't even care about basic energy as it is, so playing 4 of these is SIMPLE. Call ADDS to consistency. It isn't a GAMBLER'S card. Empoleon can run it, Eevee can, A LOT OF DECKS CAN! It speeds them up, allowing you to attack earlier because you don't have to use an energy on a starter.

yea go ahead and play call energy if u go second to my banette and see what happens

I get out two more basics and you kill my active. You now have 10-20 hp left, and my second basics kills you.

I agree with Scizor, Call energy is the best card coming out of this new set, with Phione bieng a VERY close second.

Why would Eevee run a C energy to search for two basics while it's C attack searches for three of its kind?

banette doesnt use the suicidal attack if it goes first

I read this twice, I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you trying to say if the Banette player goes first it will not use ghost head? Why the heck not?
  17. revdjweb

    revdjweb New Member

eevee might run call energy to search out non eevee basics (baltoy comes to mind)

turn 1 attach psychic, use ascension. turn 2 attach another psychic, discard a banette, do 80 with spiteful pain. why would you do 70 with ghost head and kill yourself at the same time, instead of doing spiteful pain with no side effect, unless youre trying to conserve energy for some reason?
  19. SPARTA

    SPARTA New Member

Besides the fact that this requires 5 different cards to perform T2?
You need Shuppet, two energies, a Banette, and a card to discard it. I have just as good of odds of getting Ralts, Candy, Scramble, Gallade and bieng able to rip you apart.
T1 Banette can destroy any lone basic start, which makes Call Energy good. Thank you for destroying your own arguement.

Im not gonna use ghost head cuz banette setups to t2 80,so unless u got the same to search or to use phoine, then itll be a waste. Call is ok,but how good will it be??
