Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Canadian National Championship 2013

I know it was targeted towards either one or both the players about the stacking and the end result was a warning to either one of them or both.

Oh so banning kevin lee for 1 year because he drew an extra card AT A CITY CHAMPS and stacking cards at a nationals gets a warning.
Oh no thats not biased.

Oh wait me having my cessation crystals that were JPN(even though I told them I could get a english copy from their Skyfox store AND I had a printed translation and yes I was deck checked prior) forcing me to replace them with energy cards(this was Top8 already game 3 in a bo3)
While next year I see a a person with foreign cards, no translation, and isnt forced to replace them.

yeah nooooooooooooo bias at all.

OH WAIT
how about the time where the head judge son was playing against me and he made a mistake of using his power when he couldnt and I made a mistake of using my power when I couldnt, and he gets a 1 prize penalty and I get a 3 prize penalty.
(head judge made the call)
yeah nooooooooooooo bias at alll

Oh yeah I happen to be "random" deck checked every tournament
Oh funny story, I once got deck checked 3x in a row(pre reg-during-after) nothing was wrong till I hit top cut when they deck checked me and said my sleeves were bad.

Oh wait how about I told Marvin I lost/forgot my POP ID during nationals last weekend(since I havent played in 2 years) and he REFUSED to give me a new pop id(told me to log into the website and get but how can I do that with no internet) and finally gave me one when other people also forgot their POP ID

Thats why I left the pokemon scene in ontario only come back for Nationals, which i wont since the prizes are just bad now.

Sebastian, I wasn't privy to any of those events. And you are obviously working from heresay in the case of Kevin. If you are having a problem with specific judges, then you need to first take it up with the Organizer of the event, then if that gets you nowhere, you can get in touch with P!P through your my pokemon account. They may or may not decide to follow any complaint up to the point of tuning up a judge/professor as they feel necessary, but they won't make it common knowledge that they did so. You have no idea that they haven't done such in the past, and obviously neither have I, but you have to have faith that regardless of your opinion of TPCi and their current policies regarding prize support, that they don't want to consciously destroy pokemon. They'll at least do all they can to investigate any patterns of wrongdoing. Even Tournament Organizers are not immune to getting banned.

As for Marvin not wanting to give you another POP id, even a few years ago when I was a PTO, TPCi didn't appreciate all those multiple accounts tied to one particular person. How many times did Marvin give you a new id in the past? I don't blame him for not wanting to keep giving them out. Maybe since my day things have gotten tighter for that subject. It really is YOUR responsibility to bring the proper materials needed to play the game. One of those is your POP id #. It's as simple as that. Perhaps a friend might have had internet access on their phone and could have helped you.

I, for one, am not surprised by these claims of stacking. Some of the top Masters players in Canada have been known to or have been suspected of cheating. I am also not surprised by some of the claims on this thread that the judges favour certain players...some of those same Masters players usually stick together as a clique and are friends and/or acquaintances of some of the judges and the TO. It seems like every year it is the same people who go to Worlds. Hmmmm...

Now, I do not have concrete evidence of this "cheating" nor have I seen the video mentioned in this thread; all I have certain facts that I have been told by judges and what I read on this thread. I apologize if not all of the people I am talking about take part in this stacking...but given the atmosphere of the Ontario Pokemon scene and the lackluster judging that goes on (by some judges, though there are some good ones), I wouldn't be surprised if this sort of cheating has been going on for a while.

I have stopped playing Pokemon competitively for some time now because of this poisonous atmosphere that exists in Ontario Pokemon events. The game is no longer about having fun, top people have been banned and have been caught cheating, and there seems to be little to no action being done to ensure that this game remains fair and friendly to players of all skill levels. I always feel so sorry for the Seniors that advance into Masters and have to come across of deal with this sort of stuff in a game that is supposed to be about having fun, not about how many CPs you can round up.

They are the same people that go to Worlds because they:
a) go to a lot of tournaments
b) are good players that stick together to create the best lists

We're not the only country with repeated invitees.

Kevin got banned for cheating - not drawing 1 extra card at a tournament. Your source is wrong.

He did the "I don't have a good starting hand so I'll hide my only basic and hope he doesn't notice." trick.

That happened in the US, especially with Unown G and Q, but it was only a warning or prize penalty, did he do it multiple times?

Muddy, we don't have that information, nor SHOULD we be giving that info out if we did. In either case, it wasn't the judges (head judge or otherwise) that banned him but it was the decision reached by P!P. Some of Sebastian's premises are faulty to begin with, and full of paranoid rhetoric if you ask me, but that's just my opinion. I don't have to deal with him, but current judging staff do. I give them a great deal of credit for all the characters they patiently deal with - including some of MY past comments. Let's face it, we all have our bad days and everyone deals with them differently.

Just wanted to post and let everyone know we were waiting to discuss this with Curtis since it is such a sensitive topic. We've established a plan and will commentate the video tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. It will be uploaded and posted on our facebook and youtube immediately after. I don't know if I'm allowed to link to those here though.

Thanks for your patience and understanding with this everybody. - Chase

Also, for this particular video we will be breaking our usual no censorship rule so as to make the video widely viewable and sharable on sites like this and 6P,

In this case, since it is germane, even central, to the topic, you can post a link.

Just an FYI - I am an Ontario player and was told by another judge a week prior to make sure I didn't forget my POP ID because they wouldn't be handed out at Nationals. So, I got a little forewarning, but if I forgot, I would have had to take the same route as you.

Also, right now, drop everything you have. Add a note in your cellphone titled POP ID and type in the number. Then, grab a slip of paper, write POP ID and the number and put it in your wallet. If you lose/forgot both of those on game day, you'll have bigger issues on your hand than to worry about your POP ID:biggrin:.

Another claim to be made, Zach's brother was also cheating as well. Most people who faced him during Swiss recall him getting T2 Plasma gale and 3 deoxys every game.

Don't make a claim like this unless you have actual proof. Hearing that a player frequently got good starts is not grounds for claiming that he cheated. It's an insult players by posting this kind of garbage when you didn't even witness it.

What are you talking about? That accusation is so unnecessary I watched a few of his games and that certainly was not the case, guess anyone can call out anyone on cheating and its true now a days...

My friend and myself played against him. He got the exact cards at the exact same turn. Remember this was during Swiss not top cut. It's funny, getting the exact same setup for 5 straight games?

He did not get the same setup for five straight games I know this for a fact you're just trying to stir the pot I played beside him in a couple games as well, so you're lying through your teeth.

Many people are clinging to the fact that some people were "declumping" their deck. In everyone's eyes, that is cheating. You aren't randomizing your deck but rather sorting it your own liking. If they do release the video (which they may or may not do), people were declumping their decks which is considered cheating. The point I'm trying to get across is that the actions delivered by these people are unfair to the other players and shouldn't just be ignored. This is a serious matter where it effects a lot of people and these actions should have the necessary consequences.

Thats fine, as long as they shuffle sufficiently after they can do whatever they want, the point im trying to make is you just called out a person without any proof on the matter, slandering him.
