Compendium EX Formats

I don't want to do that for two reasons. One, the ruling belong to Team Compendium, not me. Two, if things change in the compendium, there would be ripple. I would prefer that all rulings be managed in one place an linked to. Otherwise, it's a maintenance nightmare.

But all this is really just a nice to have. The Compendium is an amazing resource even if they make absolutely no changes to it at all.

If the Compendium would use a url like http://....com?card_number=23&set_name="DiamondPearl" to retrieve the rulings for card number 23 from the Diamond and Pearl set (the name could be anything, I would take care of putting the right name in on the Pokepedia side), I could build that URL on the Pokepedia. (That's pretty much what I do with http://www.poke-post.com for the images. It's quite easy.)

Compendium LV X

Place Compendium LVX beside the active Compendium EX. Compendium LVX can use any rulling from Compendium EX.

However, since Compendium Lv.X is placed on top of Compendium EX, does that mean if I manage to stump the Compendium Lv.X, do I get to draw an extra prize due to the fact that the EX Rule is still there? :tongue:

I will also like to echo the searchable database bit too since it can be quite hard to find rulings on certain items ... (that happened yesterday when I was looking for rulings on DRE)

Fair enough, your idea sounds better. If the Compendium becomes a searchable database though, and pokepedia links to it, that would be all kinds of awesomeness though. I agree the Compendium is great, but this would take things to the next level...

Ian, you get the prize for that. Maybe, archived rather than active, but other than that, exactly!

For those wondering about searchable, we definitely feel that is worthwhile. The preliminary spec is to run the Level X out of a database, for output to any format, and to make it searchable/selectable, and to make an end to HTML editing for the document.

I would love to put a link on each card to the Compendium for rulings on each card. In my mind, that would be SO helpful.

My friend, we need to go aside and have a serious discussion about concepts like that. Bring your SOAP and AJAX.
