Cosmog's attack when pushed to the bench.

Alright so Star Protection lets you flip a coin and if you get heads it prevents all damage to cosmog on your opponents next turn. Then on your opponents they use escape rope, pushing cosmog to the bench. Then radiant greninja (or some other bench attacker) targets cosmog. Is the damage prevented?

I feel like this seems like a pretty obvious case, but the argument was that the effect goes away when cosmog moves to the bench.

How does this actually play out?

Effects of Attacks are removed when the Pokémon Evolves, Devolves, Leaves Play, or Goes to the Bench.

Radiant Greninja damages Cosmog.

awww that is sad. they should add the "or until cosmog leaves the active spot" for clarity.

Thank you for the information.

With the wording "Flip a coin. If heads, during your opponent’s next turn, prevent all damage done to this Pokémon by attacks." the Effect of the Attack only lasts until the end of your opponent's next turn so adding that text would be contradictory.
There is the meta-rule that Effects of Attacks go away when the Pokémon the effect is on Devolves, Evolves, Leaves Play, or the Effect is removed by a game action (like playing Pokémon Ranger) so printing a reminder would take up a lot of room on the card.

Yeah, it is a game mechanic that attack effects are removed when a Pokemon goes to the bench. there is no need to call that out on every single Pokemon attack that places an effect. That's what the Rule Book is for.
