I've noticed from reading various deck postings (and from my fun experience at Nats last year) that about 99% of decks use Rare Candy. Would anyone have a suggestion for a decent deck type that could work without this card?

A Blissey or Kricketune deck to name a couple. Basically decks that don't focus on stage two pokes. Blissey and Kricketune decks are to swarm with stage 1 pokes. There should be no stage twos in such decks.

Any deck that runs stage two\'s almost always works better with candy
Any deck without stage two\'s almost always works better without it

Empoleon usually works well without Rare Candy as well, since you want Prinplup spreading the damage with Aqua Shower before evolving into the Stage 2 form. But what The_Lorax said is basically true; Rare Candy can help speed up most Stage 2 decks, but is unecessary in most decks that have Stage 1s in them.

Some Empoleon decks don't use RC... I use only 2, cuz Prinplup is so good!
