Oh go cry me a river. You guys get worked up too easily over a little prank. I already said Phione wasn't in the set, too.

Those whining about this will be the first ones to suck up to the mods here for their "hilarious" April 1st joke, even though the people that come to the gym are a lot less intelligent (due to their youth, clearly) and thus more likely to believe the "hilarious joke." And this is coming from a guy who doesn't even like WPM.
 
Like it or not, you've become a journalist for this community, and they have ethics that need to be followed. I shouldn't have to tell you this.

WPM, I really lost a lot of respect for you today. I mean a lot. I am not sure you have any from me anymore. I defend you to people because I have met you and I have talked to you on occasion online. However, doing something like this is just very upsetting. I cant even put it into words that would be allowed on this forum about what I really think. I think that taking a card that will change the format and making a fake of it, isnt a great thing to do. I really think that this is why people get mad at you and have huge arguements with you. Dont expect me to defend or help you out for a while. :nonono:


On a side note, thanks Mike for letting us know about this, that was nice of you.

im with water pokemon master. i found that to be really funny! and quite frankly i would have done the same if people are acting the way he says they are about him putting up scans.
so all you people need to stop your whinning about him doing it. it was funny, and not something that only a little kid would do. its not any worse than what PUI or whoever have been doing mixing up our sets.

Lets see, there's been a huge stink about the contents of GE. It has been a significant source of stress in the community in general. Speculation about the number of "good" cards that are (or are not) in the set has been going on for nearly a month.

All of this, and you decide to pull a prank, using one of the most hotly contested/desired cards that could be in the set, which players had full well resigned themselves to thinking wouldn't be. Then, to ice that cake, your hoax assigns a card number to it that would mean it would be insanely difficult to obtain.

Gee, why do you think anyone would possibly get upset about this?

It's akin to POP stating that Gym Challenges will be back next year, and then, two days later, saying "Psych!" And then acting like jerks because the community "couldn't take a joke."

There's a reason that POP doesn't do anything silly on April Fool's day. We respect our community too much. We understand that there are people that take their hobby seriously, and that building up hope only to smash it down at a later point for our own entertainment isn't just cruel; it's rude.
 
I don't think it's that big of a deal. WPM didn't actually do anything. He had planned to do something. Would WPM's joke be any worse than someone posting a fake Smash Bros Brawl roster? Not at all. Why tear WPM apart and not every single person who leaked fake information about SBB?
 
Because people have nothing better to do. It's like, if you want to make yourself look good in front of others, you bash someone so it shows you are good at "arguing." Even Mike L.'s post doesn't make much sense.

And like Prime said, the plan didn't even go through. Get over it. There are much more important things to worry about in life.

How noble! The thing is, I didn't "build up" anything since nothing happened. Get over yourself. YOU guys destroyed everyone's hope by not even including Phione in the set in the first place, so I wouldn't even be talkin'.

Actually, I do tear into those people, but there's a difference between running a site and leaking news to one. WPM gets a lot of traffic, he's supposed to act like a role model, and you can't justify your actions with crap like "it's just like an april fools joke."

Yah, prime it's a game, but again, you have a responsibility to the people who view your site, ANY site, that the information you're putting up is truthful. That includes the Smash Bros. sites, too.

I'm an anime fan, recently there's been a lot of posts concerning a certain company having financial troubles. All of a sudden, someone finds a cached press release saying that several volumes of about 30 different animes were going to be cancelled immediately. It takes another day for the community to realize the press release wasn't true, and it was only prepared in case the real news ever came up. I've never seen a bunch of otakus go that crazy. Putting up bad information is never a joke.
 
and you wonder why 'beach isn't 'taken as seriously' as the 'gym is, and wonder why POP posts here instead of there. ever consider that maybe stunts like this are part of the reason why?

putting aside the issue of the **illegal set scans**: you want to be taken 'seriously' as 'press', with all the rights of such. fine...but there are also RESPONSIBILITIES that go with that. you don't seem to get that concept: real, legitmate 'press' doesn't pull stunts like this.

HERE it involves adhering to the NDAs the rules team and we PTOs are bound to. you're not under NDA, so you think you can do what you want. fine...but don't whine about being taken to task for MISLEADING the community when you're caught doing it. unless your definition of 'press' is tabloid journalism...

^I thought it was quite funny too and he never did post it on the website till now. He just gave out an unoficial scan to some people and they beleived him. lol
 
Oh sorry, guess I'm not allowed to have fun with my website viewers. Well too bad. If you look to PokeBeach's history, I have posted pranks many times.
