Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

G&g

lololol.

mag vs. gg is 60/40 for mag no matter what lists or techs they are playing. in fact, the only gg list i've ever tested against plays battle frontier, mew*, AND lati-lock, and mag still wins every game.

no matter what lists or techs they are playing?
I would never say that.

here is why:
even if one were to say: "Blissey won't beat G&G no matter the techs or list it uses" isn't fair to say.
if someone turns their Blissey list into a Banette/Blissey, it can easily become an even, OR favorable matchup against G&G.

same thing with G&G verse Magmorter.
personally though, i've discovered tech that gives G&G a favorable matchup vs Magmorter...

uhm magmortar is the best pokemon attacker ever in the history of legit pokemon... i'd almost say he's too broken to be legal, but pokemon SHOULD have it this good more often.

point is, Magmortar beats everything. Why bother teching against it? Just build a counter if your worried about it.

magmortar is like blaze of 04 its just that good.

It still loses to Gardy.

j/k, but I don't think theres been a deck dominant in the format since Blaze. Blaze had no competition whatsoever pre-HL, and even then it was the best. Magmortar doesn't come anywhere close to the deck Blaziken was.

Its an incredible deck, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have quite the synergy Blaze had, where other decks didn't.

i miss you alex. really.

because water decks have always countered mag so well, such as the empoleon deck (3 wins vs. it in one tournament w/ mag) and gastrodon deck (t2 80 with the water guy) i beat w/o even know scramble counted for 60), as well as a thousand other water decks that lose to mag.

what's your record vs. Tsunami?

First of all if a gg list techs against any deck it just slows the list down. A tech that won't get in your way and it helps the deck are the only techs that GG can run. Second GG is never 40-60 against mag unless the list is bad or the player isn't really good. Any gg list is at least 50-50. And like I said before if you tech against mag then it will just get in the way and slow GG down. Any skilled gg player can easily out play an average mag. From experience I have found that mag needs a very skilled player and beastly list and the player has been playing mag for a while for mag to work. Not just anybody can expect to pick of a mag deck and expect to win. The deck isn't what makes mag good in fact it is terrible unless someone who had a lot of practice playing it plays it. Those people are the people who will pose a threat to GG. I have found that the matchup is 50-50 and thats saying players with the same level of play and good lists are playing. In fact this matchup is pretty much luckbased because it's really who gets set up first.

i agree for the most part,
but I also have found that;
there Are techs for G&G that give it a good matchup vs Magmorter, but they are also handy against stuff other than Magmorter. (not sure if that's what you're saying)
if you're talking techs such as Battle Fronteirs/LatiLock etc that people tech in solely for Magmorter because they think it will beat magmorter, (but the techs will be useless against everything else) then yea I agree.. it will slow G&G down.

Any gg list is at least 50-50.

lol... not any G&G list...

I agree though... that setup is a huge issue on deciding how good the G&G/Mag matchup is. if both players get setup fine, and are both relatively fast and both skilled players, I think Magmorter has a about a 60/40 or 55/45 against most G&G's

i'm not meaning any offense by this,
but how did you use Magmorter and Not know that scramble counted for 60?

G&G vs Mag: 40-60
G&G vs Blissey: 90-10
G&G vs Hurricane:70-30
G&G vs Banett: 55-45

With techs, however:

G&G vs Mag: 60-40
G&G vs Blissey: 90-10
G&G vs Hurricane: 70-30
G&G vs Banett: 50-50

This is just a rough estamate, though. Not claiming it to be 100% correct.

That is so off it isnt even funny.

Blissey matchup is about 60/65-40/35 depending on who your playing and their list. I only have 3 or 4 losses during cities and 2 of them were to Blissey and they were both against the same person.

Secondly Magmortar is not 40-60, except if your playing an inexperianced player. A player that has played GG for a while and knows exactly what to do has a bigger advantage. It becomes flipped 60-40 or better in your advantage if you know what your doing. However, that doesnt mean 1 mistake wont cost you, because that is what the matchup is. If you make a mistake it could cost you.

Hurricane - I havent see it or played it so eh.

Banette is 50-50 no matter if you tech or dont tech. I wont tech ever for one deck unless the tech wont hurt my other matchups and will drastically change a matchup. This is really whoever gets the better start. It maybe in there adv, but a good GG player should win.

But all of that is JMO,
Drew

i have played in 6 tournaments with G&G locally, and i have played: mirror, Magmortar, Empoleon, Bannette, Claydol ,Hurricane, and Dark Wing Duck. I have won at all of the tournaments, even with a loss to Hurricane.

i had only played the deck like twice before i played it and it seemed good even w/o scramble counting as 60. i also was told the card had been errata'd and mag's 1st attack was only energy cards.
