Gen 1 Trading

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so sorry if it isn't.

Is it possible to trade Gen 1 to Gen 1 between GBC and 3DS?

I have a Red Version cartridge on the GBC and the virtual download on the 3DS. I want to complete the pokedex on my 3ds virtual copy. Any way to do this? Google wasn't helpful...

Sorry, there is no compatibility between the two systems. Your best bet in order to complete your dex is to wait until Bank is open for transferring from Sun/Moon. Another option is to find another player who has the 3ds version of R/B/Y to trade.

you can actually trade from GBC to GBA SP if you have GBC cable. Same between gbc and gba or gba and gba SP. But DS and 3DS are not compatible with firsts consoles .

In older consoles you must have the right link cable in order to trade. For example; you can not trade from pokemon silver to yellow with the GBA `s link kable, even if the cable can be plugged in the gba. you need gbc cable to trade between gbc games, even if you play them in gba. Exactly the same occurs in gba games. You can not trade from ruby to fire red with gbc´s link cable despite that cable can be plugged in gba.
In other words; you need original console cable to trade for the original console the game was created for. you can not plug from gba to 3ds for the same reason.
