I have lost to Banette in Cities' top cut, in Cities' swwiss, in State's swiss, and I have seen Banette reign victorious over 3 GGs in other Top cuts. Is their a way to beat it? I think that the absol version of GG is the only one that stands a chance because you can POSSIBLY LB + Basic Dark/Multi a benched absol to 1 shot the banettes right back, but that's hard to do, too. The only other thing that I can think of is a Saybleye TecH to disable suppets' accension or banettes' w/e and get maybe 1 KO, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any better ideas.

try weavile, dusknoir works as well and most gg players already have it in their deck

i dont think weavile is a banette counter. koing banette isnt what gg has a problem with, its that banette is faster than gg so it kos gardys and gallades left and right. doing 20-30 extra damage wont change that. gallade can flip a prize and do 20 extra. i agree with dusknoir though. that does help.

    Simple.
If you go first, you have the upper hand. You can evolve all your stuff earlier, so that you stay in step to Ascension.

A plus side to going first is that Banette cannot KO your Furret unless they discard a Banny and attach a PP/Strength charm. Also, if they do KO your Furret, you should have an immediate advantage, because you can Scramble a Gallade, for the KO. In turn that leaves 2 of their 4 Banettes in the discard.

Now they have to power up a fresh Banette, by means of DRE if they want to do more than 70 to your Gallade. If they pull off the 2nd Banette and the LB right away, and KO your Gallade, you will be in dire straights. You'll need to sacrifice a bunch of stuff to stay alive. But if they cannot LB your Gallade, you should be able to win the game right there.

They have to KO your Gallade as soon as you take their 2nd Banette, or otherwise, from my playtesting, they will lose.

If you go second, imo you will lose depending on setup.

Furret versions should have no problem, as they are tough to one-shot, and it ensures that you get what you need to take the opponent down.

Very little Banette Played in Washington, I played it once in the very 1st Citys vs my G&G and beat it due to the fact that he only had two Banettes in play, He killed my Starter (Stantler) with Ghost Head on T2 with the active Banette while he powered up his benched one with two energy. I fully Powerd up my Galade on Turn 3, Warp Pointed up his benched Banete and OHKO'd it. That left him with just his Banette with no energy and 7 damage counters left in play. He drew his card passed, and I won the game on my next turn.

So that is how I beat Banette with G&G

I never had problems with that at states. I would Spiteful Pain + Charm to ko them, but I would wager them before. So all the cards they searched for went back into the deck, completely messing up there setup.

True, but there are things that are very very close. I would say a good player might be able to beat Banette, but I would render a good Banette deck will be a good GG deck 8.5-9/10 times.

Banette is wicked fast, fast damage, fast evolution . GG is on the slow side and weak to it.

I did in all of my the 3 games I played against the Furret version, or I atleast had close to that. I think in 1 of the 3 games I didnt have the wager.

Depending on your start and if you can find the right things, GG will have a difficult time. Banette is something that you need to decide if your area is right for it. If there is too much Magmortar/Dark Decks, you might want to go with a different deck.

I think it's closer to 70-30 now that people are taking banette into consideration. Before FL states I didn't think it would be run, but there were 2 players who ran it there and got GG matchups all day and creamed the GG players. Regionals is tomorrow. People are taking banette into consideration and have either playtested it more and honed their strategy or teched to beat the deck, etc.

It's more of a realllly tough matchup to win.

Well, I don't know about you, but I like the idea of a Weavlie TecH!
