It seems only moral to say "would I do that in their situation". If you would, then what right do you have to criticise them and if not then really think about because it's a different side.
I mean just because we are born somewhere doesn't make us a citizen IMO.
I feel we have no right to criticize illegal aliens in our country.
Absolutely none, primarily because we've encouraged it through decades of bad foreign policy, and neglect of our own borders.
However, we
certainly have a right to fix our mistakes. Regardless of where we came from, it is a bad thing, especially in an era when extremists half-way across the world wish to do us harm with the most destructive weapons known to man.
The first step is a monumental wall on the northern _and_ southern borders of the country, obviously starting with the southern. This triple digit BS George W. Bush and John McCain love so much disgusts me.
-Key point: an issue with this is that in order to get a large "wall" finished, contractors will probably use illegals to do it. Although it goes against an assumed ideal, I don't care
how it's completed, just as long as we have it. Its purpose is a long-term one.
The second step is an eventual phasing out of the current naturalization laws. This is a must for many reasons, the biggest of which are:
-Illegal parents become de facto citizens by giving birth to technically "legal" citizens, since it causes more issues to separate a family than to keep it together. This is wrong because they bypass standard procedures that every
legal immigrant goes through.
-An extended issue is that pregnant Illegal women often come to this country with little or nothing, so when they give birth in our country's hospitals, they get the operation for FREE! Free surgeries mean much higher bills for everyone.
We as people have to demand a change. My ideas are certainly nothing new, and are not supposed to be considered the best by any means, but the point is that secure borders are a MUST for any real country.
