Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Illinois State Championship March 15-16, 2014

Illinois State Championships

This event is open to all players. We are running this event using the Swiss pairing format, so you can play through each round and never be eliminated till swiss rounds are over. State Championships are a great place to test your new deck strategies and bring your play skills to the next level! The top players of the State Championship are awarded prizes for the skills needed to do well in such a large event.

When preparing for a State Championship Tournament make sure you have a Deck that is ready to play in a competitive sanctioned tournament. To do this first check that your Deck complies with the current Modified Format Regulations. After checking your cards are legal for play, you will then need to fill out a DECKLIST!

If you are using sleeves be sure they are all the same color and size. Damaged sleeves will NOT be allowed for this event. Shiny backs or printed backed sleeves (except for OFFICIAL printed Pokémon sleeves) will also not be allowed.

I strongly suggest people arrive early.... registration will open at 8am...

What does "No ... or printed backed sleeves will also not be allowed" mean? Does this mean no official Pokemon sleeves allowed?

also

"2 out of 3 is mandated..."

Confused here, because MI State is posting that Juniors and Seniors are going to be 30+3, single match in Swiss. Is it just mandated for Masters?

Of course not silly... I think we are just digging a little too deep... OFFICIAL printed pokemon sleeves are allowed for those who may be confused by the wording... I will correct it.

Correct my good man. We are not going to change our event for Juniors and Seniors. They will also have 2 out of 3 games mandated at our event.

See you all soon!!! Don't forget to Register online...

Okay, just to be sure, this is still BO3 for all ages?

- - - Updated - - -

Also, can anyone post how many juniors there were at IL states say last year? Does it usually hit the 32 mark?

Yes best of 3 for all age groups...

Last year there were 28 Juniors...

UPDATE Monday 3-10-14

As of right this minute there are only 78 total players registered. Doesn't look as if the cap is going to be relevant. Only once has Illinois ever exceeded 190 players. Don't be worried about a cap. There is still plenty of room...

Don't forget to register online for this event... time is running out!!!

Jimmy

Still safe to say that the cap will be of no concern? Not sure where we're heading, want to make sure getting there right at 8 or anything wouldn't be a concern.

Thanks.

Currently, there is no concern at all about the attendance cap. We are at 113 and can seat 190. Highly unlikely that we will reach that number.

Thanks,
Jimmy
