I think the age groups are fine I still want to see it done the way Japan does it though. I believe and correct me if I am wrong.

I donno.. btw Masters isn't as hard core and bloody as you say it is. Try Playing YuGiOh.
Like it or not us masters need the money too, even though I have never one a scholarship, I have seen various masters
pay for college with them (mr j. kettler) as an example.

also you can't ban a deck someone already played, I don't have enough $ for that.
And I am sure you don't either.

BTW I have a hard time staying awake too @_@ and I play MTG..

It's a good idea in theory, but remember that there is difference between children - I think many kids would get frustrated if they only were allowed to use un/commons.
My little brother, who is ten years old, is one my country's (Norway) best juniors. He would be mad if he had to play in other tournaments than me, and especially if he was not allowed to use rares. To make a Dewgong-deck instead of a Garchomp-deck would take the fun out of the game for him.

I think they meant that they should have seperate tournaments, not that all tournaments should be that way. I personally don't like how non-rare tournaments are only for Professors at Nationals.

I am a Junior and I enjoy building my own decks decks to crush others.

Lolz, Evan!

I couldn't of said it better myself(well I will now.)

I am a Junior and I enjoy building decks for other Juniors^ to crush others.

its as simple as you don't want your kids to complain or be upset because they are losing to kids who put money and time into their decks to win, then don't bring them to tournaments where money is on the line. You want your kids to play casually and be creative, that is what Pokemon league is for.

as for meta game, your kids demanding that they need to play GG or another big deck is not always the best play. sit them down and give them other options like playing a counter deck. When I went to Worlds 05 (if any1 remembers that) I played Slowking and got top 16 with a completely non meta game deck and when i went to worlds 06 I got top 32 with Flaridos again a not so big meta game deck. You need to let your kids know that just because every1 is using it, doesn't make it the best

I personally know a 13 year old who comes up with all of his own deck ideas and play tests them, puts time into making his decks work, does not play the meta game and has been doing this since he started the game and this year is going to his 3rd Worlds and has won too many tournaments to count and has consistently made top cuts at big tournaments and he only plays with a small group of friends

If your kids are not willing to put the time and practice into making a budget deck work then they have no right to complain when they lose or should not being playing at such a competative level

The problem remains KNF, that even when the next set comes out...there will be a short period of creativity, followed by a short period of only a few players figuring out a dominating deck, and winning a majority of the events...and right when people catch on...it changes.

It is the way the game has always been, and the way it always will be.

It takes a LARGE investment of time and research to be at the top tier of this game.

I prefer Japan's age groups to our as well. I think you have to give a lot of credit to the Japanese players at worlds having to adjust to all of our different rules and smaller cardpool. It is really quite amazing that with all of the changes they have to face that they are able to do so well each year.

I'm 19 yrs old, and as I agree with most of this article, i disagree with the 18-25 age group(or whatever it was). In the US, one can enlist in the military at age 17, and fully join when they are 18 years old. If you are old enough to go to war with real bullets, you can surely go to war with anyone else using "bullet seed" ^.^

Actually Ninjask, You can enlist in the Army, National Guard and Navy at 17 if your parents will sign off on it. The Marine Corps is 18+ only. Not sure about the Air Force.

*coughs* back on topic, please: this is too interesting a thread to derail into a discussion of at what age one can do what. further OT posts will be deleted...

Fair enough Mom. In a couple months it will go back to the way used to be with a whole bunch of playable decks.
