Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Japanese Metagame

Yea but the metagame is the way it is for a reason,Japan has had the game longer I suppose and it would take a good amount of money for them if they had all their sets rotated out like ours, plus they have so many promos that they do need old sets.

BUt its fine, its not like they arent recycling all the cards from previous sets into new pokes(Look at Blastoise Sw-Blastoise Ex-Blastoise Base Set)they are making the cards different and setting different rules for them so they are becoming more challedging to play and makes for more organized stradegies. ONly thing NRG accel sux now since Blastoise-Typho- Togekiss would be it for the next format.

Well, you have Weavile-dark, Exeggutor-Grass, and Raichu-Electric, those are great energy accelerators too!

But I understand whta you are saying, but it also gives them an advantage at WORLDS too! They have MORE time to stratigise with those NEWER cards than anyone else does, that is the BAD part of it all. They wil be MORE Experiences wit ha certain deck or combo than the NEXT!!!

Seriously, most of us can be more experienced quickly in a small matter of time - for example, the 2006 National Champ, Martin Moreno. :)

I understand, it is possible for those events to occur like that. I am speaking on behalf of Everyone though. I mean, dont you think its kinda NOT fair is what I am trying to say!!!

Its easy to play a deck, but to master a deck is a wonderful thing.

I mean anybody can buy decklist and play the deck(no shots at anyone) but when you make the deck your own and tech just for your playing style and can win with it majority to all of the time, then thats what I like even if it isnt fair,Japan dosent win worlds most of the time anyway.

Whatever Flygon said is mainly true. Japanese does not win every single Worlds.

The only reason why Japanese dominated 2004 worlds because most of us were... inexperience and they teach us with their deckbuilding styles.

2005 worlds. the japanese were outnumbered by the Americans this year with their amazing SDs.

2006 worlds is mixed with each win of the divison to each part of the world.
JR: Japan
SR: Finland
MA: USA

2007 worlds is also mixed but Europeans outnumbered this time but Japanese did so well that time.
JR: Japan, Japan, Australia, Canada
SR: USA, Japan, Japan, Canada
MA: Finland, Denmark, Japan, Japan

It is all depends on many factors
The skill of the player
the consistency of the deck
The matchup the deck faces
and not to forget - the Luck.

Cheers >D

Well, I cant argue with that, great points by both Jason and Flygon, I understand. I guess for me being UNexperienced and "Green" to the game, I just didnt realize that it wasnt quite that big of a deal as far as >_> to <_< compatition based on format experience.

Thanks everyone who posted, and made there opinions known, you helped me realize what I and others need to do to be prepared for UNfamiliar players come BIG Tourney times, no matter where they are from THANKS!!!

Alot of people who are new ca do well, pokemon is a good for being able to give ability to be good if you understand stradegy really quick. I s.u.c.k at pokemon, but I understand stradegies of decks and how they are supposed to work/and how to counter what your playing against. If you understand that then your good enough to do well in tourneys

Japan is good, but numbers matter, also if u play Japan in yugioh, you will get beasted no matter how good u think u are.

P.S: Flygon d/Sceptile GE/OP4/Tangrowth most fun grass deck Ive played with for fun.

okay, that is true, I ALWAYS hear I make Great decks, BUT I am just UNExperienced and mess up sometimes. BAD LUCK can be a factor too, BUT NOT blaming that!!!

I know what it's like.

I have HORRIBLE luck at tourneys, so my rating isn't so great. However I am very good at strategy/deck building/playing decks.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I agree 100%.

Last yr when I was still new to the game I built a Gardevoir ex deck, and perfected it over the yr. By the end of the yr, it was AMAZEING, and soooooooooooo much fun to use.
