Courtesy of PokeBeach for the scan...

Hopefully, I'm not the only one who could see this being used a lot in the next format...

Play a stadium to counter Snowpoint; Now Luxray can OHKO the LV. X versions of the Spirits (major shut down of the deck as well)...
Shock Bolt on Kingdra or Tentacruel. Heck, even with Plasma, you're dealing damage equal to about 50% or more of their HP to them...

Yeah... I think I'll just leave this here...

It's good, but gets outspeeded by Kingdra and the like.

1 and 2 energy pokemon are the new 3-5 energy pokemon.

Again, maybe I'm the only one that sees it...

Two energy for a potential 90 damage (yes, I understand the circumstances. LV. X, yada yada)

Maybe a PlusPower here and there...

I was opening my japanese booster box, groaning at getting 3 copies of this instead of more useful cards. Then I saw the Shinx and Luxray theme deck scans (LA in english) on the beach. This looks to be a really great line/deck.

Shinx getting energy turn one is amazing, however everything collapses if Kingdra gets the donk hand of turn one Kingdra. Luxray is amazing if they have not evolved that quick, or e.g. against a Seadra. Luxray's ability to OHKO Kingdra with Shock Bolt or KO in two attacks with Plasma is very strong, not to mention the annihelation of AMU.

I plan to experiment with health energy and potion. Sounds really bizzare, but as Luxray has 120HP, recovering off a bit of the first 60 means it can take two hits, and effectively counter Kingdra.

    With magnezone, maybe?

Shinx grabbing electric energy from deck and attaching it turn 1 is GREAT. This means you could turn 2 rare candy luxray for the 100 damage. Luxray's second attack does 100 damage for 3, which is fantastic, even if you have to discard all the electric on him (hello Call Energy). Then Luxray's first attack brings back an energy AND does 40 damage. And to top it off, if your opponent has a lv.X on the field (what deck doesn't?) all of Luxray's attacks do 50 more damage! Free retreat is awesome too.

By far, Luxray is one of the best cards in Legends Awakened.

Amazing cards. Shinx has recharge. Next turn you can do 70 with Luxio. Next turn 100 with Luxray. All of the evolutions are pretty amazing. This will limit the Kingdra and AMU play IMO.

Note: I really don't think that AMU will stand much of a chance against any deck really. I drop a Mr. Mime and say "good game."

AMU can snipe a bit & should play plenty of warp points. Mime is great for getting you a turn or two ... but if you leave it up it's going to give them time to set up too. It's not like Mime has an awesome attack or anything.

Then they attaches another energy and answers "yes, that's what I thought too."

But Luxray is pretty nice. It has (nearly?) autowin against AMU, and will give Kingdra big trouble. And I love Shinx' Recharge, potential 100 damage T2 is just amazing.

This card is going to be pretty big regardless of AMU. Now that we have more Lv.Xs (especialy Mewtwo tech), that bonus of 50 won't be hard to get.
And it's a decent card anyways.

Are you kidding? Not even nearly autowin.:nonono: Any good AMU deck can set up first turn if going second there is no way to get three energies first turn Personally with my AMU deck I can get Supreme Blast ready T2. That is all that is needed to slow Luxray down enough to OWN it.

I'm sorry but you guys are reasoning with late game situation wins when a good AMU list wins before any late game situations can take affect especially with a Stage 2 based deck.

    Sorry Guys!

    How wrong indeed you are.

Supreme blast t2 has less odds than kigdra t2. Why?

    3 Lv.X's

    no leveling up on t2.

    3 BASIC Lv.Xs

2 energy requirement that only can be set up t2 is by discarding a psy energy, then filpping heads on

Luxray, on t1, can get a :lightning:colorless on it by attatching a call energy.

you, on t2, do some stuff, and end.

    I shock bolt you.

AMU is one of the most overrated decks.

If you think your list is OMFG! WTF U SUCK!, then show me the list.

Apparently you have not seen nor run a good AMU list 9/10 times you can get all three LV. X's set up at least turn three sorry just don't see your point.

The odds are not so inconsistent all you need is Roseannes Research or Bebe's Search and with 4 of each not that hard.

EDIT: It is actually is more inconsistent for you to draw into Rare Candy T1 with even four listed.

If you draw a Bebe, then where are you getting your 3rd pixie?

Anyway, Luxray has early game speed with that Shinx and all. Which is nice. But it will be harder for it to keep going at it come mid-to-late game, while stuff like Kingdra can keep up the blows. Thats why I dont think Luxray will be Tier 1. Tier 1.5? Now THATS quite likely.

A Bebe would be to pull out Azelf to check prizes when typically I can still get Mesprit and/or Uxie with Poke-radar or Dusk Ball. Yeah not Tier 1 but still can be decent if built correctly.

Why are you guys even talking about tiers when none of these decks-- not Kingdra, not AMU, not Luxray-- have EVER seen real tournament action? Solitaire games on Apprentice or Redshark or little casual games against close friends in real life or people over the Internet do not at all count as any sort of evidence for tier categorizing. On top of this, I especially don't see how you can definitively say something like, "Yeah not tier 1" when you're not even discussing an actual deck at all but just some theoretical build that, again, has not even seen any real action yet.

Anyway I think Luxray does have a lot of potential, mainly due to that Sphinx's Charge and its ability to OHKO Empoleon, Kingdra and any of the Pixies even with Snowpoint Temple in play due to that amazing Body, no questions asked. Speaking of that Body, it really is amazing, allowing you to either OHKO or do a solid 90 for 2 to anything as soon as your opponent drops an X, and although the X dropping is of course optional, to a number of decks that run Level Xs, choosing not to drop the X is like choosing not to evolve a basic (anything dependent on Leafeon lv. X in particular comes to mind). Obviously that would be crippling for them.

With Call or any other non-lightning as one of the attached energy plus Energy Pickup plus energy drop for the turn, you can get off a couple of back-to-back Shock Bolts at any point in the game with a little luck. Even without luck, things like Plasma and compatibility with Rotom (MD) as a constant recharger/buffer mean you still have a number of ways to get off multiple Shock Bolts per Luxray over the course of a game. Getting Luxray out turn two is a nice option but of course that won't always happen and if that were the only thing going for it, it wouldn't be much. Fortunately that is not the only thing going for it. Luxio able to do 70 is almost as nice because it is likely going to net you a KO if you're against anything unevolved (which turn 2 you likely will be) and you may even get away without having to discard any energy. If you do get Luxray turn 2, Plasma + Buck's/PlusPower also takes care of a number of things, or even Plasma w/ no extra damage support against something like Piplup (MD) or Horsea, allowing you to conserve your energy for a Shock Bolt next turn, which you pretty much will get in since there will be no Scramble counter-KOs to worry about. With the right build (mainly playing enough energy), it has the same odds as Kingdra of coming out turn 2, because both decks need essentially the same amount of searchable and non-searchable cards in hand by that second turn.

Having the DP Luxray as a tech option to net you easy and/or game-winning prizes on weak basics is also nice, although it would slightly lessen the odds of getting the LA one out turn 2.

Overall I think the entire Luxray line has a lot going for it and should definitely not be dismissed as some lower tier lot.

    Rosanne can't get a basic Lv.X.

I should know, I asked in the ATM forum.

You people playing AMU know that you can only play a Level X on your active pokemon right??

And you're telling me you're getting it off on turn 2 and 3? Show me a list please.

    And to keep on topic:

Luxray is IMO one of the best cards from the new set. Great attacks, free retreat, good weakness/resistance. Nice stuff.
  19. Brawler

Free retreat with the MT sprite, cards that give you switches, there are ways...

    But I agree, I think it's a little TOO much T3.

AMU is not T2, remember. It's T3, due to the evolution rule.

You're right it is turn three but that does not mean everything can be in order T2. I agree about Luxray yes it is going to be a contender just not IMO to the extent that at the beginning of the thread people were taking it.

It is very easy to level all three up in one turn. I would not like to share my list because I do not do that with my good decks.

My problem with the thread is the assumption of the deck's matchups before tourny's can prove the theories. :nonono:
