Which is why it makes sense to only run one of it lol.
Anymore is pretty foolish.
I think 1-2 is the smartest play. 1 could be prized. So maybe 2 would be better. 2 allows for easier drawing into it, and then you only have 1 dead card that can be Claydol/Felicity/POV'ed away.
I see some people are arguing about deck space, but that doesn't even come into the equation. Consider 4-1 vs 3-2, or even 3-1 vs 2-2, depending on the total number you want to run. Now, the key facts, these cannot be disputed. In both cases the latter:
Gives you more consistant openings
Renders you with a "dead" card
Assuming we disregard any outside factors, such as Kabutops or Drifblim. Now, one must decided which of these is more important. Considering Bebe is only used in the quantity of 4 to increase the chance of drawing into one early (and not with the intent of ACTUALLY playing all 4), you've essentially got a "dead" card either way. This is the same reason I referenced starters earlier. Late game, they are also dead cards. Just because you can play them doesn't mean you should. I think its pretty obvious that there's no realistic reason to play less than 2 Lux. Anyone that doesn't is just looking at it face value and ignoring the practicalities of the situation.
Thankyou! My faith in humanity has been restored.
As for Papi/Manny's comments, quite the opposite. I'm trying to educate rather than deceive. As someone who's training to become a teacher I feel its only my duty to explain things to people who are having difficulty understanding.
Just watch out for WHERE games are lost. Matchups that you shouldn't generally lose. I can guarantee someone will think back on this sometime and wish they'd listened.
Why do you keep posting that?? I have used all 4 bebe's plenty of times... Even if you DONT intend to use all 4, its not a dead card as you put it, you can still do the search and fail just to get another card out of your hand in order to increase the draw count with claydol. With 3/4 luxury ball your running a stupid amount of dead cards(2/3)
You're absolutely 100% wrong in saying that the intent of playing 4 Bebe's Search is to not use them all. I even run as much as 4 Bebe's Search and 2 Celio's Network in several decks, as do many top players this season and use them very frequently.
The difference between Luxury Ball and Bebe's Search or Celio's Network is that you have up to three dead cards after the first one is used. Even saying that it has as much use as Pachirisu does after the first one is ludicrous, as is much of the discussion in this thread.
I don't see how deck space DOESN'T come into the equation. Unless you absolutely have to, you don't want to take away from your bebe count, espically rendering it to a count of 2. And you are absolutely wrong by saying people dont' use 4, because I find myself using my 4 early and then wanting to have a 5th or 6th one often. Also, your faith in humanity has been restored? Over the top, much? I am also going to college and getting my degree in elementary education, and I can tell you are going to be one of those teachers who over-complicate everything and try to sound alot smarter then you actually are. And yes, people are going to lose games that they generally shouldn't lose. Thats why we play this game. Theres no such thing as an auto-win. People are going to lose when they open with that extra energy switch or other trainer/tech line vs. that extra luxury ball, but the opposite case is going to happen far more often if they do listen to this logic of yours.
Ryuzaki I have a question. Have you even tested luxary ball a lot.
I've used 4 Bebe very often.
I don't think people would put in 4 if they didn't plan on using 4. Most players play 4 Bebe to use 4 Bebe, not counting the ones who play 4 Celio/2 Bebe to use them...
If you only need 2-3, then you might as well only play that many to save deck space. Same thing with TGW in Plox, they play 4 becuase they are going to use 4.
I use 4 Bebe all the time.
Not always for a search, but like my good buddy Chromcatz said, I can also use them to dump cards out of my hand for Claydol.
Sandslash is right, as well.
Over all, if you play 4 Luxury ball, you are bad at this game. Case closed. There really is no argument over that.
Gotta say, after testing my IFDS Gengar deck out at League, 2 Luxury Ball IS too much. There were SO many times where I would play 1 early on, and would have a dead card in my hand later in the game. I'd keep putting it under with Claydol and drawing the dead card right back.
I feel the safe play would be 1, but you could get away with 2 for more consistency. Anymore, and it's not a safe practice.
4 is wager bait. Good luck recovering after losing a wager and drawing 1-2 useless luxury balls.
