I say this every week, and I have to say it again. How in the bloody HECK is the PSP generating sales? It's matching Wii and DS blow for blow so far this year, an yet it has no games in the market whatsoever. Wii has at least 5 million sellers, and DS has at least 20 games in the top 50 every week. Where do the PSP sales come from?

Brawl = sales. Plain and simple. I wouldn't be surprised if, by the time this is all said and done, the Wii ownership to Brawl ownership ratios is close to 2:1, if not 1:1.

I dont know, something happening in Japan we dont know about about the PSP.

Apparently it could be that game "Musou Orochi (Koei)" which has generated PSP sales to seeing as it hit #4 which is not common for anything PSP related.

Maybe also they may of had a price cut in Japan to, I wouldnt mind picking one up if it ever went below $90.

I think the price is within $10 of the US price. And it's probably not a brand new game generating all those sales. I think the only PSP game to have longevity of any kind was Monster Hunter Portable 2, which is 16 on the current count.

Maybe its desperation I dont know.

I know if I was bent on sticking with Sony when it comes PS2/3 and all, since theirs really nothing out for the PS3, I would go out and buy a PSP just for the idea of change and something new, maybe thats what it is, I dont know.

Similar things happened before here in the U.S. like that, back in the N64 era when it was N64 vs PS1, the hottest selling game at one point in the Guiness book of records ended up being Diddy Kong Racing, not because it was the best game ever made, but their simply nothing else around that time period. That might be why the PSP is jumping up in sales.

One theory I think that lets the PSP sell is that it perhaps offers...well, X-rated content that you can't otherwise get on a DS or something. After all, the PSP has true internet capabilities and yeah.

Otherwise, yeah, I have no clue why the PSP is selling. Are they actual sales, or are they just how many units moved, like what Sony reported in the past?

Well if you want to take a less lowbrow theory, it could be the movies and other media that you can get on a psp that you can't find on a ds, if it's not games, its going to be something else.

Media Create counts the number of barcodes scanned and sold, similar to Billboard for music.
