because some seem to be a bit confused, here is the criteria for the wierd deck contest.

-All cards are legal
-has to be playable (no decks with 0 pokemon/etc)
-does not have to be competative
decks are judged on how wierd they rate in the following
uniqueness
theme
strategy
fun factor
 
I understand the "weird deck" but now I am confused on what you want to do for the end of the month tourny.

Are we going to play with Japanese cards or do you mean for prizes? I can't read Japanese, and I don't collect Japanese cards. (Majin and his bro have a lot, though) If you do mean for prizes, why not have old booster packs as prizes, such as Base, Jungle, and Fossil. They still sell them at Target.

Just a suggestion. How about having one of those team multiplayer tournaments where it is 2 on 2 for the end of the month tourny for Jumbo Combusken, then whichever team wins will have to go against each other for the end of the tourny to win it. I think that would be fun. Also, we could do it with gameboy. What do ya think, cattdreams?

yeah, I was just throwing out the idea of an all japanese booster draft. so far that one looks like a wait and see deal. since this is our fist time 'round in a new home and not everyones found us again, it's looking like we'll do a simple tournament, 2V2 or possibly multiplayer, we'll see how everyone feels about it. if we do multiplayer, I'll see about getting big cards for both team members.
in the comming weeks, we'll have more iron clad plans with good booster drafts and so on.
 
Ok, next week we are having a tournament. we're going for 2 on 2 pokemon. Prizes include whatever pokemon related stuff I happen to pick up between now and then, Plus promo's and the big winner stamped combusken.

also, the deck challenge will be......

build an unlimited deck using only commons and uncommons. Max of 5 uncommons in your deck. NO RARES!
 
Blast it! My mom and dad are going to a wedding next week on Saturday and when they come back we are going out to celebrate my b-day. So, I won't be able to go. Oh well, but whoever gets the jumbo be sure to send me the scan.

How was it today? Who showed up? Who won anything? Anything insteresting happen? I couldn't go because I caught the cold and didn't want to infect anyone.
 
What are going to be the promos for next month? Also, are there going to be more chances to win the Combusken promos or are they all gone?

ok, a few more updates,
For the poor mans deck challenge, Promo's are to be considdered uncommons, unless they are reprints from a series, in which case, they are whatever the origional set lists them as.
Remember, there's a max of 5 uncommons in your poor mans deck, and no rares!

This weeks tournament prizes will include current promo's and assuming that people can afford between 3 and 6 bucks, we'll do current product for prizes.

As far as next month goes, the kits have been ordered, but I'm not sure whats in them. but as always, you can opt to win older promo's. so yes, you can most likely get a combusken next month.
 
How did it go today? Who won Jumbo Combusken? Did you get Treeko/Grovyle/Mudkip/Marshstomp in yet? How many people came?

I didn't go because my mom and dad had a wedding to go to and we are celebrating my b-day on Sunday. So, I am at my grandma's all weekend. Now for the EX Dragons tourny, I'll have to enter in 15+ division. Eeeeeks!
 
ok, a few notes,
next weeks deck challenge is a deck that uses ONLY special energy, no basic energy. once again, unlimited format. prize will be a brand new deck box.

Also, we have new "house rules" for unlimited format.
basically it's normal unlimited, with the following cards banned.

sneasle
slowking
tyrogue
super energy removal
(you guys know which ones)
 
All Special Energy. Hm. Can't I just all that nice purty holo fire energy I got in my professor package? It's special. ;)

...wow. This is going to be fun. And unfortunately, both parents were working today... so I didn't have a car to drive. Who showed up today? How'd it all go?
 
Can't wait until I start to drive. The only reason I haven't come in the past month was either my parents had to go somewhere or I was fighting with my bratty brothers. As soon as I get my license, the first place I am driving to on the first Saturday will be the Pokemon League.

Anyways, Cattdreams, have you gotten in the Treeko, Grovyle, or Grovyle/Marshstomp jumbos yet?

Another thing, everyone. Those Mudkip and Marshstomp are going to be mine! I am going to win them all! Hahahaha! *falls out of chair, literally*
 
the deck boxes are the classic ones. most likely I'll be giving away a charizard one. it comes with 60 clear sleeves and is new in the wrapper.

as far as how today went, it was your normal fan fare. though I had to keep running across the stripmall (was doing my laundry :) )

league went well with new members showing. those regulars that didnt show... ohh your'e all getting noogies!

No repeat trainers! you cant use more than one of the same trainer in your deck. deck challenge prize is.. ???? (probably a deck box)
 
Did you guys have the end of the month tournament yesterday? I hope you didn't because I am coming Nov. 1st, this Saturday. Also, just to pass this on from Chrisbo, here is an e-mail from him:

Well, Nintendo finally got their tournament sanctioning page working
properly and I had the honor of being the very first organizer to sanction a
Pokemon tournament for Nintendo's new "Pokemon Organized Play" (aka "POP")
division. It will be held on Nov 1, 2:00pm at Black Lion Comics; Modified
Format, prizes TBA & fees will probably be around $1-$5 depending on what
kind of prizes we can get. Pass the word along to anyone you think may be
interested in attending, and let me know if you can make it so we can get a
head count in advance.

Also, we are going to have someone filming a school documentary at League
this weekend (Oct. 25) and at the tournament (Nov 1). He has requested that
we wear Pokemon related items (shirts, hats, pins, etc.), so let's get in
the spirit and wear your Poke-Gear both this weekend and next.

Finally, don't forget the upcoming Pokemon Rocks America event in San Diego
on Nov 15, and the EX-Dragon Prerelease events in Costa Mesa (Nov 16) and
San Diego (Nov 22). Contact me if you need more information.

As stated by chrisbo's email, the end of the season tournament is going to be on nov 1st, (so you didnt miss out) iit will be modified format.

Next weeks deck challenge is going to be.....
All ex pokemon decks, all pokemon have to either be ex pokemon, or evolve into an ex pokemon.
