This guy has figured out teh Reed-Solomon code used in printing the dot codes on the Pokemon cards.
He has even written a small game and a Pokemon editor/viewer for the thing! The coolest is that he has a printing app that can print the dot codes to photo paper and scanned in. So much for the extra cost theory we were handed.

The cost has nothing to do with the cost of ink.
It has to do with liscensing costs of legally using their technology.

If they developed it - what licensing cost?

Since this was already posted in RTC this morning, HERE, I'm going to lock this as a duplicate. Thanks for understanding...
