where would I go to figure out which pokemon would even be good for a trick room team?

Actually I'm playing X but I have access to Y as well - if I need to get pokes from there.

Yes my guide is pretty dated, though it was valid for 2 years XD

Uh TR...generally slow and bulky are your best bet. Things like Amoonguss, Conkeldurr, Escavalier, Reuniclus, and other slow Pokemon are always good fits that hit hard and because they don't need to worry about Spe EVs, can have those thrown into HP or other defensive stats to make them a pain to KO. Most team will also try fitting in 1 fast Pokemon or other priority moves in case their TR user gets shut down or they can't get it going for whatever reason as backup. You definitely want to make sure they're in the Kalos dex for this VGC season though.
