Activities

In addition to the main TCG State Championship tournament we will have LOTS of side event activities to keep players and family busy all day. While the main event is open to everyone we know that the key to a memorable weekend is offering a variety of activities in addition to the main event. The list below are some of the most popular activities offered in side events, but you never know what the staff will come up with to challenge BOTH our video game and trading card game players.

“Win a Playmat” Pick-up Tournaments (Cost $5.00 per player): We have a supply of very cool Gardevoir playmats that we will be giving out as prizes in eight player pick-up TCG or video game single elimination tournaments. These mats are spectacular and the only place you can get them is at a Pokemon State Championship tournament. Sign up for either a VG or TCG eight player tournament in the side event area and the winner will get one of these fantastic play mats.

Video Game Premier Challenge Tournament – (Registration at 11:30 AM) (Cost $5.00 per player): Video Game players will have their own premier event on Saturday where they can earn some Championship Points. Registration for the VG Premier Challenge tournament will begin at 11:30 AM, with the tournament starting around noon. The registration fee for the VG Premier Challenge is $5 for all players and top finishers will receive Game Stop or Nintendo gift cards and Pokemon themed merchandise. The prizes increase as the number of players increase so bring your friends!

Trading Card Game League Challenge Tournament - (Registration at 5:30 PM) (Cost $5.00 per player): TCG players who don’t make top cut will still have plenty of activities to fill up the entire day! At 5:30 PM, as the Swiss rounds of the main event are finishing, players can register in a League Challenge tournament to earn Championship points and some other great prizes, including the Gardevoir playmats. Prizes will be determined by the number of players, and in addition to the playmats we will have boosters and other Pokemon merchandise in the prize pool.

League Play (FREE): You can win stuff just by playing your video game or battling with your TCG deck. Like the Pokemon League you attend at home, the League desk at side events will reward you for battling a friend (or a new fried you just met at the event). Battle throughout the day (main event battles do not count) and report your results to the League desk where you can win all kinds of Pokemon merchandise.

Raffles and Drawings (FREE): The MEGA-RAFFLE is a NW tradition at States and Regionals, and we have some FANTASTIC items again this year. You get an entry ticket when you register for the main event or the Video Game Premier Challenge!!! There are lots of other ways to get entry tickets and they’re FREE. You get another ticket in each of the first four rounds of the TCG tournament. You get tickets for side event activities, League play and for each $20 purchase made at the Pokemon store. The drawings will be after round four of the main event.

Pokemon Store: It wouldn’t be States without the Pokemon Store. You’ll want to arrive at 8:00 AM on Saturday when the doors open, get registered, and then head over to the store. Even though the store was pretty much cleaned out at Regionals, momma-june and Mrs. BDS have been busy restocking the shelves. The store has lots of very cool items, but some are in limited quantities. There are items directly from Japan, and of course there will also be the traditional things, like boosters and theme decks at great prices. While the store will be open all day, you will want to check it out early on Saturday for the best selection of plushies and other limited items.
