With the possibility of Phione coming to a Pokemon Pack near you, I was pondering the odds of players going to a 4 Basic, 3 Stage 1 and 4 Stage 2 lines. Most Players right now use the 4-2-4 method and 4 Rare Candy to substitute for the missing Stage 1, but with Phione, will Players take into count the use of Rare Candy on the Stage 1 just use Phione to Evo to the Stage 2?

When Rock-Lock was around (see Deck Forums, Archetypes) many people took the Rare Candy down to 2-3 and went with more Stage 1 do to HL Jirachi. I see this as being a possible tactic with Phione when we actually get the Fossils, but with States right around the corner and the speculation that we won’t see the fossils in this set, will some people try to create a Speed T2 deck with Stage 2 Pokemon and Phione?

Some Players will use the 4 Celio’s and 2 Bebe’s idea to increase those odds of getting that quick Evo from Phione, but is it really going to be that necessary to play 6 Search cards when Phione sets it up for you?

Personally, I like the idea of this method of Pokemon Combos:

4 Phione for evolution and thinning
2-1-2 Togekiss for Energy Setup and thinning
4-2-4 of your favorite Stage 2!

17 Pokemon is about normal for most builds on Stage 2 Decks, but Phione Paired with Togekiss just adds that Deck thinning possibility that some are looking for!

Well, needless to say, this next set is going to shake up the format and create new Metagames or everyone! The Return of Blaziken Firestarter coupled with the possibility of DP4 Blaziken for massive damage looks promising! NTM so many other cards!! Weavile will get some added Play to allow for more Free Retreating with an interesting new Stadium, which might increase Breloom’s Tech Ability in some decks!

Phione definitely will help setup decks and Absol might lose a little of its luster since S2 will have a nice way of getting out without needing the Trainers as much!

I Look forward to the Chaos and new deckbuilding ideas!!!:thumb:

Well it'll be hard with Blazy to get the energy back on an active Blazy... XD

    Now that you say it:

4 Phione for evolution and thinning
2-1-2 Togekiss for Energy Setup and thinning
    4-2-4 Flygon EX/Dragonite EX/Infernape/Metagross EX/Blaziken GE/Empoleon/etc.

I just had a butt load of ideas! XD, thanks!

im kinda curious didnt jirachi(HL) have almost the same attack and he was not that popular back then whats the difference now?

Jirachi was quite popular from what I saw. But to answer your question, the Phione is gaining a great deal of attention because it looks like an answer for how to make a lot of decks run consistantly (specifically, setup decks). The Gardy/Gallade deck may be a setup/Stage 2 deck, but it's nearly the only deck of its kind right now that's popular (other than Magmortar/Typhlosion). After a brief period of time where Blissey varients were all anyone saw, and after G&G's rise to popularity (and the desire to counter it), people are wanting to utilize other cards out there. Phione is a good way to do that.

Now with all that said, it'll be a shame if we don't get Phione. : (

what stinks is that it couts as an attack, but if people discard your rare candies with Absol o someother cards, you can use Ohione in place. So, there are pros and cons.

I want to see your Rare Candied Stage 2 Pokemon falling by the AMAZING power of Omastar GE

Thats why Phione was born :thumb:

I was looking that possibilty of adding Pachirisu to the starting list, retreating for Phione (only playing 2) and going from there.

My starting list was coming like this..

    4 Pachirisu (new)
    2 Phione(new)
    3/2/3 of whatever
    2/1/2 of Togekiss

19 for me, but a lot less trainers needed!

I think adding pachi uses too much space!

Also, IMO togekiss isn't a must. It could be 2-1-2 or 1-1-1 tech like blasty d, amphy, etc

Pachi and Phione would be so good for the game.

I personly like 3 Phione and 1 Pachirisu. It helps prevent dead starts, and the Pachirisu lets you run less wind storm.

And why Togekiss? Dlecatty or Claydoll is just as good.

Kiss attaches any energy it gets out. Better for Bliss, Mags, and whatnot. Claydoll/Delcatty are better for the Gatr who needs energy in hand but that's a different story.

Kiss only attaches BASIC ENERGY by what I can read on the scan. I agree this isn't the Play for Gatr, you need the Energy in Hand, not on your Pokemon!

    Togekiss = overrated, IMHO

less than average attack, one-time luck-based energy acceleration, there are way better options out there.

With all these starter pokemon coming into use, people are going to turn them into a liability just like they did in 06 with Delta and in 07 with Ambush. Only this time there are so many more options for sniping and damage spread.
