Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Player vs. Player Pokémon TCG Online coming this fall!

I hope everythin' don't turn into online.
I hope it's like the VGs. Play VS random people against the World and add friends and stuff. No tourneys, just casual play.
You would def have more fun IRL than playing on this.
IRL you'd be laughing at your misplays. With this you'd screaming at your screen like some sad 24/7 WoW player.

Can't Wait its gonna be the best!

I do agree I still want the cards to play in real world competitions not all online.
I do want friends also

I sure the heck hope they'll include Wizard-era cards; I would LOVE to be able to play old-skool Haymaker again, :)

BUT in any case, THIS might be what'll get me back into the game after a seven-ish year hiatus. :D

Well I was excited until I actually read the press release, I'm just not interested in buying virtual cards which is essentially what this is going to end up essentially being. Having to buy theme decks I don't want to get virtual cards also doesn't seem like something I'll be doing. So yeah amazing idea, just the way to get cards is not going to be to my liking and that means the online TCG game will not be as fun or helpful to me.

This seems to be using the same business model of games like Farmville and other Zynga games were you have to actually spend money if you want to get stuff done or you're stuck with very limited options. I'd be fine with paying an X amount per expansion pack, say $20 and have every card in that expansion but virtual boosterpacks no thanks.

I have no idea why, but it seems to me like TPCi doesn't have access to card imagery prior to Ruby and Sapphire. If they did, then wouldn't it be on the card search? That, or they just like to pretend that Wizards never produced cards.

I'm fairly certain we won't see any cards prior to RS.

I'm fairly certain we won't see any cards prior to BW, its supposed to be accessible to new players. Also counting the Wizard sets are just translated cards from a license they had I don't see why TCPi would not have access to the card imagery prior to RS. It probably has to do with the fact that they already had all the RS-post card images in computer files and they didn't have the budget or time to go and to them for the older cards.

Finally!!! Now I might get back into playing the Pokemon TCG with this coming out. I don't if any one has said this, but the preview game play at PAX looks a lot like Duels of the Planeswalkers for Magic.

Also, don't worry about this replacing anything. I'm sure that it will function in a similar fashion that Magic Online does and you will probably have to buy packs to start off. I'm not sure about Sealed/Booster drafts though, but I haven't played since the Gym sets came out.

I hope so too. I'd crack out my old Feraligatr combo deck that had Trash Exchange in it.
