Iron Chef Leader
Hello gymers, welcome to Iron Chef 2013(pretty much 2014).
I hope this will be a much better competition than the last one that I ran. This tournament was intended for an international vs US bracket style tournament. Due to the surprisingly low numbers of international players for the tournament I am forced to scratch that idea. Instead we will be having 4 pods as we did last time. the top 8 from each bracket will move on into the Top 32. Then we will start our single elimination.
Here is how swiss rounds will work. There will be 3 rounds instead of the four previously stated. If there were to be a tie with a few players, a sudden death match-up consisting of a new challenge for said tied players, in which they will have 2 days and 2 days only to complete the challenge, trying to best their opponent(s). After the swiss rounds, as previously discussed we will go into a Top 32 cut. It will be your typical bracket in which high will play low. This will be based on overall scores, in case of a tie-breaker for that. I will ask for an online play portion of a deck of your choosing that is legal, or if whoever has the highest creativity score.

Without further do, I am now presenting you with the Pods, in which there are four of them. All players were put into pods randomly with a "pull out of the hat" randomization.
Here you go, also make sure if you signed up and don't see your name, say so immediately.
Any further questions, post on this thread the question and I will answer them promptly.

Now here are some interesting storylines for me.

1) Can Cyrus, last years champion, defend his title?
2) Who will be the silent sleeper? Last year it was Goldedda...who will come out of nowhere again?
3) How tough Pod 2 is looking, big names in the game.
4) Who will create the most creative deck of this tournament? Last year the player that did that didn't make the top cut.

Those were just some thing that popped into my mind.

Expect a challenge either tomorrow or the next day.

Happy Iron Chef, and may the skills and creativity, forever be in your favor(spinoff of Hunger Games)

How long will we have for each round? It's coming up on the holidays and the marathon season, and many of us (myself included) might not have the time between tournaments and family obligations.

Just a suggestion for your consideration...how about anonymizing the entries. You could print (to file maybe) and delete the poster's ID...then match up the decklist/solutions after the judging is complete.

This would have the benefit of eliminating any perceived judging bias toward the folks that have a reputation...yet still allow strong innovative deck design to show through.

Thanks for the idea but there is no bias going on. Plus that seems like a tasking situation on top of a very fun and tasking tournament.

Although it is tasking, it might be worth doing just to help reduce bias. Judging contests like this one might just be better anonymous. Of course I've barely got time to participate at all, ha ha. I'm wowed by the # of great players in my pod too.

2013/14? Really? You're planning for this a year out?

[/sarcasm]

Oh other question, this is my first time doing this and I suppose you'll make this clear later... But how/where are the submissions made, and how are they presented?

Lol bullados, well it is going to be 2014 before the grading of the 1sr round.

Pnoodle5- I am the one grading them, so I automatically know who is who. Also, you will be submitting the entry to me via pm.

As you stated in the first post, round 1's challenge will start tomorrow or the following day, but the grading of round 1 occurs in 2014? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, can you elaborate on this?

No, I was being sarcastic.

Grading will happen in 2013 though.

What do you mean performed?
There will be a tie-breaker of online play. It is also based on whatever said players has available to them. Playtcg.me, ptcgo, redshark, apprentice, etc.

Grrrr....I had a hard time last time just getting past the Top 32 but now Hatter and Cyrus are going to be tough to beat.

When I post the challenge, I'm trying to make a good challenge right now.
Expect it late tonight, currently with my family having a pre Xmas party.
