Thing is, though, that there's a lot of continuity used between the two. In one ep of the Indigo League, Brock even mentioned level (plus the whole Squirtle thing with Hydro Pump, but I'll leave that there). Such things make people have higher standards on game-animé continuity. The thing is that some game standards are applied, but in aggrivatingly small amounts.

A "lot" of continuity? Please, tell me where there is a "lot" of continuity? Level has been mentioned, once or twice (Watch the Pokémon Tech episode. That episode was designed to show you that just because you know how things work in the games, you don't necessarily know how they work in the anime), but what else from the games has really been mentioned? Things that we'd consider abstractions I mean, since obviously levels and attacks are going to be mentioned. Have stats been mentioned? DV's? PP? HP? TM's & HM's? The effects of Badges with regards to Levels and HM use? (See Charizard. 8 badges, and he still wouldn't obey.)

I think I've made my point.

Note also that Ash's Chikorita (Bayleef now) has Vine Whip. While it is a perfectly logical move for a Grass Pokemon to have in the anime, and in the GB games can be learned by Chikorita as an egg move, Ash caught it wild. So, how did it learn Vine Whip? Of course, there are a few things that more sense in the anime than in the GB games. For example, Tail Whip not doing damage in the GB games -- wouldn't it hurt, at least a little, to get whacked by a Pokemon's tail, especially if the tail's pretty big?

um.. i wasn't saying that the anime is supposed to be exactlty like the games =/

it's just that it seems like they'll say one thing, and it'll work in one episode, and then not in the next..

Maybe its mommy was from the Chikorita evo line and daddy was from the Bulbasaur line. Anyways, what I meant about the continuity wasn't the technical stuff, it was the story stuff. Kid travelling the world, beating gym leaders and stuff like that. Granted, the animé would be more like a Pokémon MMORPG (which would be really, really fun) than the actual games, but still.

Anyways, the joke I use about Ash having 8 badges and a disobedient 'Zard is this: he has a Gameshark that he hits random codes on (it's how he does some of the stuff he does). He accidentally sharked 'Zard up to 100+ and doesn't know how to get it back down.

Sorry, Marril, but I think Charizard is actually Short-Sighted, and can't see the Badges that Ash has, hence the lack of obedience...

Then again, you could be right - after all, his Pokedex is completely full, and he never bothers catching legendaries - now you know why. :)

Also, with the Chikorita breed, it was caught in the wild, but in the game, you can release your pokemon - they've got to go SOMEWHERE, so the idea isn't so Farfetch'd after all. *ignores own bad joke*
