Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Prerelease Raichu?

Ah yeah it was summer of 09. I get 08 and 09 confused. That was the summer when mozz listed those pika's and I remember wil got one of them. Wil sold the card after finding out that PSA would not grade it. Which they would of graded if he just wrote a note with a link to the article on here, but thats history.

Why on Earth wouldn't they grade it?

Because they didn't have any information. I have sent in cards that they have not graded before, but if you just send a note with a few references and links they usually grade the card. They are an authentication company that authenticates cards so they don't just grade anything that comes their way. It is good that they are particular so that you know if you have a graded card it is legitimate, registered and the condition is declared by a professional.

I don't know, some collectors prefer not to. I did not for awhile, but then realized the long term benefits of it being registered, officially graded and the protection is the best out there.

That is typically true. Most cards that are moderately rare/expensive increase in value when graded. Some of the older set cards are valued high graded because of the difficulty in finding them in mint condition. Basically the older/rarer the card the better it is for it to be graded.

Yeah, but it seems to me that it won't affect the value of the super rare cards.
They're already super rare and hard to get anyway

Agreed. I've only asked for a card to be graded once, and that's because of its rarity. I just wanted it protected. The actual grading makes little difference to a rare card.

However, I did buy a University Magikarp (web version) just because it was PSA 10 graded. More common cards definitely get a boost from a good rating
