Prize support is disappointing

That is just outrageous. Top 128 Should get a box, and IMO 6-3 whiffs should get 18 packs, because it is not their fault that they had bad resistance. Top 64 should get 2 boxes. Top 32 should get 2 1/2 boxes and maybe $500 Scholarship. Top 16 Should get the Worlds Invite plus 3 boxes and a $1000 scholarship. Top 8 should get a paid Worlds Invite plus 4 boxes and a $1500 scholarship. Top 4 should get a paid Invite plus 4 1/2 boxes and a $2,500 scholarship. 2nd should get a Worlds Invite, 5 boxes and a $4,500 scholarship. Finally, 1st should get a paid invite, a Booster Case (6 boxes), and a $6,500 scholarship. That is what I think players should get at Nationals. For Worlds, I think everyone at least deserves 8 packs just for qualifying.

I'd be more than fine paying:

$2 for a Battle Road
$5 for a City
$10 for a States
$15 for a Regionals
$20 for Nationals
$? for Worlds

if it means greater prize support.

Honestly I would be fine if TCPi started with giving out good promotional cards as prize support for smaller tournaments (similar to FNM, or Heroclix tournaments). Making the 'Premier' tournaments have a modest entry fee seems like a good idea for the masters division at least if it would mean greater prize support,

$20 dollar event at Nationals would bring about $19,000 towards prizes. You're asking for $43,000+ in prizes. I don't see them putting in 25k+ of their own money towards prizes. jeffrey123 was MUCH closer with his prize list. (and re-looking at HIS, it does seem feasible for $10, but not $5)

(towards Masters Only, so Pokemon would put in MORE for other divisions too)

We have to remember, it's highly unlikely all the entry money would go to prizes. It's likely there would be overhead for transportation/security/etc. of said money.

That too. I edited my quote above (towards Jeffrey) stating why $15 sounds more appropriate for Jeffrey's prize list. But for dragons, that's just getting ridiculous.

Can Pokemon get a "Star City Games" like company to run things on the side? PLLEEEASSE

If we get a legitimate program to play the game online, it can happen. Until then, though, it's just not feasible for any company or group to try to pull this off.

Yeah, I just want to reiterate what Kyle said. This game just has nowhere near the player base or support that Magic: The Gathering has.

I have suggested this before and I am sure it has already been discussed in this thread, but adding entry fees for tournaments is the best way to add prizes. Masters is the largest age division by a wide margin on a consistent basis and currently has the same prize distribution as the other age groups. This could be changed by just adding Masters entry fees. This would allow for better prize distribution relative to the size of the Masters division. I'm sure nobody is happy about Top 64 at U.S. Nationals in Masters out of 1000+ players walking away with nothing.

I would not advocate making kids pay (a.k.a. their parents) to play in tournaments when the target audience for this game is obviously children. It's just when the largest age group has consistently been Masters since the game's creation then maybe a good idea is to reward them with more competitive events, which means bigger prizes.

Just my two cents.

I agree with you that keeping events free is important in the younger age divisions. I also think it would be great in the older divisions as well to have some free events throughout the year. For example, Battle Roads and Worlds, in my opinion, should always be free.

That being said, I think it would be a really awesome idea if P!P organized a couple pay-to-play circuit style events every year. How great would it be if the 3rd week of Regionals had a $20 entry fee, but amazing prize support? Even if that tournament didn't count toward championship point standings, I think it would still be a well-attended event because many players have been clamoring for it.

Additionally, P!P could possibly work with Nintendo to get discounts on prize support. What I mean is this: at my company, we offer "$x worth of product" to our customers, but the raw cost of the $x to the company is only around 1/2 of x. For example, a partnership with Nintendo could mean that players could get $200 worth of merchandise from Nintendo, but P!P would only have to pay $100 for it. That seems like a win-win to me.

"Note: This all comes from a player who finished top 32 and went home with 18 packs and a hat. My brother finished 2nd, but I won't be able to accompany him at Worlds because I don't have the money. I'll only complain about Hawaii as a location because — and international players correct me if I'm wrong — it's harder for people on the east side of the US and most other countries to get to than, say, Florida. I'm trying to think of everyone involved, not just myself.

TL;DR — go back and read, I feel it's worth it. ;)[/QUOTE]

Japan is closer to Hawaii which is why it`s a world location

..which would then increase the setup charges for those stamps by 26 times, as each different country's stamps would need a different die...PLUS the cost of the different dies for the 'deeper' US top cut...

The card would obviously be printed in the native language... negating your problem altogether.

Also, we're not talking about a tropical beach stamped promo, your basic states or regionals/nationals accelgor promo with a top xx stamp would suffice. If you're expecting prices in the range of worlds stamped promos then you're simply mistaken.

They would not put every single dollar into the prize support, but they could put 10k+ more in IMO
