Professor Cup Format Tournament?

I wanted to know how much interest there would be in a tournament setup on the PokeGym Battle system that used the format from the 2012 Professor Cup.

Edit: Thanks for moving this. It would be handy to have a giant link to this forum from the PokeGym Battles page.

I'm not a professor so it doesn't matter if I say what it is anyways, right?

CoL-On. Stage ones are basics. Stage twos are stage ones. 60 card 6 prize format. All basic-targeting cards work for stage ones now.

I think a non-professor should be able to put together a fun tournament that has a specific set of parameters without a problem... cabd, would you like to make a tournament like that?

I would love to try this.

Slowking FTW!

This is the format according to a post in the casual formats thread.

This year's prof cup format looks to be really fun. It's called "Big Boy Pants."

The rules are pretty simple:
1. Only cards from CoL-on are allowed.
2. No player may include any basic Pokemon in his or her deck.
3. Stage 1 Pokemon are to be treated as basic Pokemon except they are not subject to rule 2.
4. Any trainer that talks about basic Pokemon may instead be used on Stage 1 Pokemon (eg Dual Ball, Eviolite).
5. Any trainer that would be used on an "evolved Pokemon" can only be used on a Stage 2 (eg Prof. Elm's Training Method)

I'll go ahead and create the tournament... I'm not entirely sure of the best way to run it online yet so if you have any ideas, send me a PM. It might be easiest just to run Best of 3 Single Elimination. But we'll figure it out.
