Remakes Workshop - Making Everything Playable (All Plasma Freeze Pokémon Done)

Aisor

New Member
Plasma Freeze done! Doing other cards occasionally and on request once I'm done with this set.

My goal is to give all recent and upcoming cards in the modified format a makeover that would make them more useful, or at least more fun to play with or against.

I stick to the current card model.

1) Every Pokémon can have up to two attacks or Abilities.
2) Weakness is always 2x
3) Resistance is always -20

The only difference is that I make some attacks not cost any energy to use, marked as ( )

Any feedback is appreciated. If you have Modified-legal cards in mind you want me to remake into something playable, feel free to request them here.

PLF #064 Umbreon

The official card

Ability: Dark Shade
Each of your Team Plasma Pokémon get +20 HP.

:dark::colorless::colorless: Darkness Fang 70

Weakness: :fighting: x2
Resistance:

Problem: It's not a top card but it's already kind of playable. The attack is boring, though…

The remade version

:dark: Stage 1 Pokémon 100 HP (Plasma)

Ability: Dark Shade
Each of your Team Plasma Pokémon get +20 HP.

:dark::colorless::colorless: Darkness Pulse 70
Heal 10 damage from this Pokémon for each :dark: Pokémon on your bench.

Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 more damage. If tails, switch this Pokémon with one of your benched Pokémon.

Resistance: :psychic: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

PLF #066 Weavile

The official card

:colorless: Hail
This attack does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Discard as many Pokémon as you like from your hand. This attack does 30 damage times the number of Pokémon you discarded.

Weakness: :fighting: x2
Resistance: :psychic: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

Problem: A well designed card, although maybe tier 2.5 at best. Really high damage output that the low HP of the Weavile line and Exeggcute balance. Playing this deck might be straightforward, but the deck building process won't be.

No remake needed.

PLF #067 Absol

The official card

:dark: Basic Pokémon 100 HP (Plasma)

:dark::colorless: Mind Jack 20+

Your opponent reveals his or her hand.

Weakness: :fighting: x2

Problem: Low HP, overpriced attacks, same old.

The remade version

:dark: Stage 1 Pokémon 120 HP

If the Defending Pokémon is a :dragon: Pokémon, this attack does 40 more damage.

Weakness: :fighting: x2
Resistance: :psychic: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

Problem: At least it has a unique attack, and it OHKO's Rayquaza with a Dark claw and three Power Connect. In other words, Absol is better for all purposes including getting rid of Latias-EX (for which this probably was made). More HP is needed as well.

The remade version

:dark: Stage 1 Pokémon 130 HP (Plasma)

:dark: Demoralizing Slash 40

:dark::colorless::colorless: Slicing Blade 70

Weakness: :fighting: x2

The remade version

:dark: Stage 1 Pokémon 120 HP (Plasma)

Ability: Heightened Focus
If this Pokémon is affected by a special condition or has any damage counters on it, if this Pokémon would be damaged by an attack, flip a coin. If heads, ignore all effects of that attack to this Pokémon. If tails, all damage dealt by that attack to this Pokémon is reduced by 20 (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

:dark::colorless: Revenge Cutter 30+
Before doing damage, move up to 6 damage counters from any of your Benched Pokémon to this Pokémon. This attack does 10 more damage for each damage counter on this Pokémon (if this Pokémon is knocked out by the effects of this attack, deal full damage anyway).

Weakness: :fighting: x2

The remade version

:dark: Basic Pokémon 70 HP

:dark: Predator Bite
Discard the top card of your opponent's deck and heal 40 damage from this Pokémon. If the discarded card was a Pokémon or a Basic Energy card, search your deck for a Pokémon that evolves from this Pokémon and put it onto this Pokémon (this counts as evolving this Pokémon). Heal 30 damage from this Pokémon.

Weakness: :dragon: x2
Resistance:

Problem: The first attack is good. The rest is bad, but it might still just be borderline playable. I think I'll make sure, even if it means going a bit overboard this time.

Weakness: :dragon: x2
Resistance:
Retreat Cost: :colorless:
When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Problem: It's not a good card against most decks since it takes forever for it to knock out anything, and it's easy to get around the Ability's protection. It's an unbeatable card under the right conditions, but those conditions barely exist in the game.

Weakness: :dragon: x2
Resistance:
Retreat Cost: :colorless:
When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Problem: When you combine the weird energy requirement combination with harsh discard, this card is something that would really only be played with Blastoise. But Black Kyurem EX does everything better there.

The remade version

:dragon: Basic Pokémon 180 HP

:psychic::colorless: Mach Flight 50
The Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

:water::psychic::colorless: Luster Purge 100+

The remade version

( ) Signs of Evolution

Each player draws 2 cards.

Weakness: :lightning: x2

Weakness: :fighting: x2
Resistance:
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

Problem: Pretty fun. Almost counters Mewtwo and maybe some dragon. It's also a starter if it faces off against a starter. It can't be made much stronger because in worst case it would be played as a cheap counter to everything. Just some small adjustments.

As long as this Pokémon is your active Pokémon, this Pokémon is the same type as your opponent's Active Pokémon.

( ) Imittack
Choose 1 of the Defending Pokémon's attacks. If this Pokémon has the necessary Energy to use that attack, use it as this attack.

PLF #095 Starly

The official card

:colorless: Basic Pokémon 60 HP

:colorless: Tackle 10

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

Problem: We meet again, tackle, for the last time.

The remade version

:colorless: Basic Pokémon 80 HP

( ) Flock
Count the number of Starly you have in play. Draw that many cards and remove that many damage counters from each Starly you have in play.

:colorless: Precaution Peck 10
If the Defending Pokémon is a Pokémon, your opponent shuffles a Special Energy card attached to it into his or her deck.

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

PLF #096 Staravia

The official card

:colorless: Stage 1 Pokémon 80 HP

:colorless::colorless: Take Down 30
This Pokémon does 10 damage to itself.

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

Problem: Gets zapped so easy, and it doesn't even do anything helpful/harmful.

The remade version

:colorless: Stage 1 Pokémon 110 HP

Ability: Flight Formation
Once during your turn (before you attack), if your Active Pokémon has a :fighting: Resistance, you may switch it with one of your Benched Pokémon

:colorless::colorless: Brave Bird 40
Look at your opponent's hand. Choose an Item card you find there and discard it. This Pokémon does 20 damage to itself.

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

PLF #097 Staraptor

The official card

:colorless: Stage 2 Pokémon 130 HP

:colorless::colorless::colorless: Wing Attack 60

:colorless::colorless::colorless::colorless: Strong Breeze
Your opponent shuffles the Defending Pokémon and all cards attached to it into his or her deck.

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless:

Problem: In some other format strong breeze could be a threat even if it doesn't give you prizes. But with Thundurus-EX around, this actually needs a remake.

The remade version

:colorless: Stage 2 Pokémon 150 HP

:colorless::colorless::colorless: Wing Attack 70

:colorless::colorless::colorless::colorless: Strong Breeze
Discard an Energy attached to this Pokémon. Your opponent shuffles the Defending Pokémon and all cards attached to it into his or her deck.

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost:

PLF #098 Tornadus-EX

The official card

:colorless: Basic Pokémon 180 HP (Plasma)

:colorless: Windfall
Shuffle your hand into your deck. Then draw 6 cards.

:colorless::colorless::colorless::colorless: Jet Blast 60+
Does 30 more damage for each Plasma Energy attached to this Pokémon.

Weakness: :lightning: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless::colorless:
When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Problem: It is weak, but it can donk hard, is splashable and has hand refresh so I guess it's okay.

No remake needed.

Sorry for double post. Reserving this space because the first post (20 799 words, 113 pages in Word) is getting alarmingly heavy to edit.
edit: Wiped everything as connection was lost while editing. All megalo cannon gone. Oops.

Some BW Black Star Promos

BW #076 Electrode

The official card

:lightning: Stage 1 Pokémon, 100 HP (Plasma)

:lightning: ElecBeam 20
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.

:lightning::colorless::colorless: Selfdestruct 100
This Pokémon does 100 damage to itself.

Weakness: :fighting: 2x
Resistance:
Retreat Cost:

Problem: There are basic Pokémon that hit for more with same or less Energy, without drawback

The remade version

:lightning: Stage 1 Pokémon, 110 HP (Plasma)

:colorless: Selfdestruct 110
This Pokémon does 110 damage to itself. If this Pokémon has a Plasma Energy attached to it, put 2 damage counters on each Benched Pokémon (both yours and your opponent's).

:lightning: ElecBeam 30
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. If tails, search your discard pile for an Energy card and attach it to one of your Benched Pokémon. If the Pokémon you attach that Energy to isn't a :lightning: Pokémon, put 3 damage counters on it.

Weakness: :fighting: 2x
Resistance:
Retreat Cost:

BW #079 Landorus

The official card

:fighting: Basic Pokémon, 110 HP (Plasma)

:fighting::colorless: Extrasensory 20+
If you have the same number of cards in your hand as your opponent, this attack does 30 more damage.

:fighting::fighting::colorless::colorless: Rock Tomb 90
The Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

Weakness: :water: 2x
Resistance: :lightning: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless::colorless:

Problem: Since it's a plasma basic with a big attack and big HP, of course it's already strong. But it might not be enough against the competition. I think I'll buff it to around Giratina's level.

The remade version

:fighting: Basic Pokémon, 130 HP (Plasma)

:fighting::colorless::colorless: Extrasensory 50+
If you have the same number of cards in your hand as your opponent, this attack does 40 more damage. Otherwise, this Pokémon does 40 damage to itself.

:fighting::fighting::colorless::colorless: Rock Tomb 90
If this Pokémon has any Plasma Energy attached to it, the Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

Weakness: :water: 2x
Resistance: :lightning: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless::colorless::colorless:

BW #080 Druddigon

The official card

:dragon: Basic Pokémon, 100 HP (Plasma)

:colorless: Taunt
Switch 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon with the Defending Pokémon.

:fire::water::colorless: Boost Claw 60+
During your next turn, each of this Pokémon's attacks does 30 more damage (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

Weakness:
Resistance:
Retreat Cost: :colorless::colorless::colorless:

Problem: Not really playable. It still beats most evolutions with sheer speed and support for being a plasma basic with 100 HP and no weakness, so the remake needs to be something other than a full buff.

The remade version

:dragon: Basic Pokémon, 100 HP (Plasma)

:colorless: Taunt
Switch 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon with the Defending Pokémon. That Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn. If that Pokémon is a Pokémon-EX, your opponent can't play any Item cards from his or her hand during his or her next turn.

:fire::water::colorless: Boost Claw 60+
If the Defending Pokémon is a Basic Pokémon, this attack does 60 more damage. If this Pokémon has any Plasma Energy attached to it, this attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on the Defending Pokémon.

Weakness:
Resistance:
Retreat Cost: :colorless::colorless::colorless:
