Rules regarding the use of proxies at League

I've recently been told that the use of proxies (both printed and handwritten) during casual league play is banned as per the rules so I'm after clarification if this is the case or not.

As fair as I am aware this is not the case and custom is that they are permitted due the understanding that they are just placeholders for cards you have already or are in the process of getting hold of and are not fakes. I've been playing for about 10 years with this understanding and using them at various casual leagues for play testing including at the league prior to this where I have now been told they are against the rules.

Please could the rules team clarify if this is the case or not? I did find this thread from 2014 that stated the same understanding that I have but as I've been told this is a recent change a clarification of whether they are allowed or now not would be appreciated especially as I don't play PTCGO and would like to continue participating and playtesting at League using proxies as has previously been the case.

In my personal opinion, for casual play, you can just play what you want as long as each player playing against said deck with proxies knows what the card does and is fully aware of them ahead of starting play and your deck is not full of all or too many proxies. Not everyone can get a hold of all cards and it's fun to try new ideas and just overall fun decks with cards you may not have at the time or may want to trade for or purchase if you like the way it plays. I would allow it in my League for the stated "casual play" only.

I allow any real card and proxies. I do not allow fake cards.
I'm fine with proxies being used to test out a deck, rather than having someone buy the cards and find out they don't like the deck or the deck doesn't work.

Thank you very much for your responses. What you've said has always been the way I've approached using proxies so it's nice to know that's consistent and there hasn't been a recent rule change regarding their usage.

You're welcome
I am not aware of any rule changes for League.

This falls into the category of don't ask questions that you don't want to hear the official answer to.
