Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Scheduled Fall Battle Roads in Ontario, Canada

Garret: Since the average player (with a transportation method) can go to their local BRs and then some (thats like 6-8 BRs), I thought that I would go to at least 5. I have only played in Barrie, I am definately going to Angus and possibly Oshawa, and then I have the choice (if my dad sees fit) to do a local BR or two BRs in the Toronto area (totallying me at 4 or 5 BRs, 1-2 less than my expectations). My dad said that we would try to save money to go to Worlds this year (even if we miss out on invites) so I want to secure an invitation by any chance possible (more tournies = more chances to rack up my points). I know I may only gain like 50 points from BRs (and thats only if I win consistantly) but, that would bring me closer to my ultimate goal of getting a Worlds invite. About the gas, I know it is expensive and if my dad said we can't go due to gas prices, I wouldn't go to the outside BRs but, we were supposed to go to some anyways and we couldn't due to his house. Getting back on topic, I had thought of a solution...
why don't you switch the date for the OMG BR to the 12th and that means all of the tournies that weekend will get more players? Just an idea.

Paul: For me going out to Toronto, I don't expect to go undefeated for both tournies but, if I do make it out there, I plan on trying my best to be the best.

Thats my 2-cents:lol:

I mentioned that to OMG, and that suggestion wasn't welcomed. No worries Zach, I've thought of a lot of ways that things could have worked out, but dealing with other people and their schedules tends to make you realize that things aren't as easy as we'd like. Sometimes they are, but that's not often. The upcoming Stormfront prereleases are another example. I won't go into details, but scheduling is sometimes challenging. One thing I can tell you - For Battle Roads, Pete could be a little more lenient in where they were placed (within reason) so that larger cities could get 2 events - therefore we saw 2 events crop up in Oshawa and Barrie. However City championships have to be held one per city. So the local organizer has to pick a spot in the case of multiple available venues. Prereleases can be held outside a fairly decent geographical location from another, but not too close, so again organizers have to pick a spot. However schedules and venue costs tend to have a bearing on when and how the event is run. Not only that, the organizer has to consult his judging staff on availability as well. Plus when you are dealing with more than one organizer or PTO in a state or province like we have here, there are more options, and problems to consider. A good organzer does that so the players aren't even aware that there were any question of when, where or how an event is to be run. There are a few really good event organizers out there. I still have a ways to go, but I'm getting there. I did take into consideration all those factors, but this is the best we can hope to accomplish for now.

In the meantime, not that you are displaying this, but remember that a win at all costs attitude will cause problems. Be very careful, respectful and humble and you will be liked .

Sean: reading on a website I saw, St Catharines has a store called "Mostly Comics" at 413 St Paul street. Would you like to check them out and let me know in a pm how it turns out? I have their phone # if you need it.

Garret: About the win at all costs thing, I was only meaning I want to try to win as many games as possible, I guess it just didn't come across like that:lol:

I.....

Zach, ummm, can I make it any plainer for you? I wasn't accusing you of anything, bud. But just remember our earlier conversations.

Hey, I just have to shout out to Wes M., here's a new name in the already competitive Master's division this year and although I have nothing but complements for his opponent, Genesis P, lets just say that Wes is as classy a player as I've seen in the game.

Having judged 3 BR this season, this is going to be great this year. Turn out is up, number of tournaments is up, player SOTG is way up. Let's keep this season on a roll.

I can hardly wait for Cities to start, this year is going to Rock.

is it not it Wes G?

Congrats to Wes for the win yesterday, i could've lowered myself and just stalled for 3 seconds instead of letting him have an extra turn, but i don't have it in me T.T

Who would've thought Flareon was such a good card

Wes G it is, my bad.

Geneses, great weekend, your creative and original deckbuilding skills are second to none!:thumb:

The 6 winners on the weekend included 2 Kingdras (Juniors), Tyrogue and the Hitmon gang and AMU (Seniors) and Torterra and Infernape/Typhlosion (Masters)!

SOTG was way above what any judge could ask for and I was blown away by the quality and variety of decks and the top notch play.

This 2008/2009 tournament season is definitely going to be a good one.:pokeball:

Thanks for the compliment, the best thing in pokemon is the creative factor and it's what makes pokemon fun! It's the reason why i never play the same deck twice play at a tournament (unless a deck is TOO fun playing). There is too many options and it allows me to build my skill as a player and not a one trick pony trying to make only one deck the best. It also holds the surprise factor where my opponent is guessing every second what card i'm going to pull out of my hat!

I still have your pachy's and felicity's....FLAREON FTW

anyway this year should be good, two first year players won Yesterday only playing in their second or third battle road which is very impressive!

Wes and Bin, Congrats to them both! (I don't even think they know what PokeGym even is!)

It's really nice to see the variety of decks and people winning BR's this year. That gives this season a better start in comparison to last season when all you saw at BR's was Blissey. I have to find a way to get to one! Maybe Burlington or Mississauga. We'll see...
