Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

SE WI FR/LG Prerelease NOW 8/28!

I got my modifed decks revised for the side event. Don't know if I'll use the deck I'm most familiar with or the one I constructed last night. We'll see.

I should be leaving within the half hour--if we happen to get lost--try not to start without me. I'll be wearing jean shorts and a black pokemon ex shirt, glasses and a watch. Maybe/maybe not a hat.

Looking forward to seeing you all there--should be a great time! (just don't cry when I humiliate you all!! MUAHAHAHA! Just kidding :p Just make sure you all bring your A-game and I'll try not to lose them all)

And if any of you check here within the half hour....if I bring my 5000 count box of cards, would there we room for it or should I try to bring what I need in a couple of 1 row boxes? I usually bring my 5000 count box to events and keep it in the car and get what i need out of it when I need it, but my dad will be dropping me off so won't be able to get stuff out of the car. Reply here or IM me--jwizzle866.

Sry guyz, can't make it. Too much HW to come to 2 days of Pokemon. Sorry...

I made it home alright--let me know how the modified tourney went.

I had a great time and it was a great experience. I placed 6th with a 3-3 record, was hoping for at least 4-2, maybe i"ll meet or exceed that goal tomorrow at Manitowac. My 3 losses came to the top 3 finishers though, so I lost to the best. 2 of the 3 losses came down to the prize. Would have helped if I could have rolled heads a little more often! I'll see some of you tomorrow in Manitowac!

BrokenLizard--I sent you a PM

Great tourney! Brookfield POP is definitely the best in the midwest. We had 25 people, which was great. I pulled a Charizard EX, which was kool. Props to BrokenLizard, another great tournament. I didn't place in either tourney, but still had plenty of fun. Hope to see some of you tommorrow at Manitowoc, it should be pretty fun as well.

Yep. Great tournament. Its definatly #1 out of all I've ever attended! ;)

I left for my trip Friday night. We went to Dairy Queen for supper. Ok, I'll skip to good part.

I stayed over night at my cousin's played a little Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and went to bed. When we got up we pretty much left really quickly to go to the tourney.

When we got there, I met menoknow. He's one cool guy, for anyone who is wondering. Then, I hung around with him and the league people: Josh, Joe, Chris, Cody, Matt, Niki, etc.

Ok... now I'm skipping to when I opened packs because there isn't anything interesting between those. Well, I always say I pull crap, so here it is.

Cards pulled
1 Ditto
1 Poliwrath
1 Arcanine
1 Dugtrio
1 Kingler
1 Primeape
1 Tangela
1 Drowzee
2 Ivysaur
1 Metapod
1 Nidorina
1 Parasect
1 Persian
1 Porygon
2 Raticate
1 Venomoth
1 Wartortle
1 Weepinbell
1 Bellsprout
3 Bulbasuar
1 Caterpie
1 Charmander
1 Clefairy
1 Cubone
1 Doduo
1 Growlithe
2 Jigglypuff
1 Krabby
2 Magikarp
1 Magnemite
1 Meowth
1 Nidoran (Male)
1 Paras
1 Pidgey
1 Pikachu
3 Ponyta
1 Seel
1 Shellder
1 Slowpoke
2 Venonat
1 Voltorb
2 Weedle
1 Bill's Maintenance
1 Charizard ex

Wow... 1 Trainer. This is what I built. It probably wasn't the best selection on my part, but I really didn't want to have a lone Ponyta start.

My Prerelease Deck
Pokemon (22)
1 Ditto
1 Tangela
2 Ivysaur
1 Metapod
1 Parasect
1 Persian
1 Porygon
1 Venomoth
3 Bulbasuar
1 Caterpie
1 Meowth
1 Paras
1 Shellder
2 Venonat
2 Weedle

Trainers (1)
1 Bill's Maintenance

Energy (17)
17 Grass

That is all for the deck. So, here are my rounds.

Round 1 - Peter (Grass stuff)
Ok, I start off by quickly KOing a Paras and some other Pokemon with Bulasaur. Then he takes my Bulbasaur, so I bring up a powered Parasect. He takes that pretty quick, so I bring up Ivysaur. I'm able to score 1 prize before he KOs me, so I send up my Ditto with 2 Energy on it. I use it's power to switch it with Bulbasaur for KO. Good game!
1-0; 3 points

Round 2 - Niki (Grass stuff) AKA Shadowcune
Niki is playing Grass too. That would probably be because of the abundance of Grass Pokemon in the set. Anyways, I start off with Weedle. She starts with Caterpie. I Poison her right off the bat, then she hits me for ten. Her 2nd turn she evolved into Metapod, so I Poison that too. 3rd turn she pulls out Butterfree on me and takes 2 prizes really quickly (not without me racking up some damage on it, though). I bring up Venomoth and pray for the flip. HEADS! Now She's only up by one prize. I take 2 more prizes with Venomoth, then I send up Bulbasuar for game.
2-0; 6 points

Round 3 - Josh (Grass stuff) AKA Hypnotoad
Ok. Josh was an easy game all around. I got a 2nd turn Metapod and ate him alive by stalling until I sent up Paras to poison him. I took 1 prize with Paras and 3 prizes with Metapod. Good game, Hypnotoad: Ruler of the Dimentions. :p
3-0; 9 points

Round 4 - Steve (Fighting/Fire) AKA Yoshi1001
Ok. I didn't stand a chance. I did offer the ID before the match, but oh well. I lost. I'm not going into depth at all with this. He had total weakness over me.
3-1; 9 points

At this point there was a 4 way tie for 1st in my division (11-14) with Josh, Cody, Joe, and me.

Round 5 - Cody (Grass stuff) AKA Blaziking111
Cody's my brother. We IDed. No, not because of being brothers, but because of a strategic plan I was about to impliment. I also got Joe and Josh to ID. They played each other too.
3-1-1; 10 points

Round 6 - Joe (Grass/Water stuff)
Joe's cool. He always gets lucky enough to beat me though. We ID... part of my master plan. I also got the 1st through 8th place people in 11-14 to ID to assure their positions as well. SCORE!
3-1-2; 11 points

The results for 11-14 were in.
1st Place: ME!
2nd Place: Joe!
3rd Place: Cody!
4th Place: Josh!
5th Place: Niki!
6th Place: Matt!
7th Place: Peter!
8th Place: Kyle!

It ended up being a 4 way tie for 1st place, and resistance AND last names decided it. Joe and I had the exact same record AND resistance, but Krenke comes before Miller in the alphabet, so I win.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then, there was the Modified side event. I'll get right down to the matches.
The Deck List: Magma Melt-Down
Pokemon (16)
4 TM's Groudon
4 TM's Zangoose
2 TM's Baltoy
2 TM's Claydol
2 TM's Numel
2 TM's Camerupt
Trainers (25)
4 Professor Oak's Research
4 Team Magma Ball
4 TV Reporter
3 Team Magma Consirator
3 Strength Charm
3 Mr. Briney's Compassion3 Pokemon Reversal
2 Ancient Tomb
2 Maxie
Energy (16)
8 Fighting
3 Magma
3 Darkness
2 Rainbow
Ok... now that Manitowoc is over too, here is the rounds for yesterday's Modified tourney.
Round 1 - Niki (Team Aqua/Suicune ex/Walrein) AKA Shadowcune
Ok, TM's Groudon is an awsome card. I took all of my prizes but one with him, and the one I didn't take I took with TM's Zangoose.
1-0; 3 points
Round 2 - Matt (Machamp/Banette) AKA Monsterprowler
Matt is my cousin, so I decide to wail on him. His Banettes are both Weak and Resistant to me, so they are OHKOs. He stalls a bit with Shuppet and Machamp, but everything gets damage piled on it. Then, I Briney for a fresh Groudon! :D
2-0; 6 points
Round 3 - Kyle (Walrein/Milotic) AKA Pooka
Pooka is so cool. I do agree, however, that he is too quiet. Sometimes you have to wonder about why he is so quiet. LOL. Anyways, he takes a whole one prize on my TM's Groudin that I sacrifice just so I assure a win. Good game, and I'm glad that I was able to beat the 12th place 15+ World Championship participant.
3-0; 9 points
Round 4 - Cody (Exploud/Xatu) AKA Blaziking111
Cody's my brother, so he begs for an ID. Why would I do that? I'm on a roll. So, I pretty much take everything out do to weakness. He never got a Xatu out at all.
4-0; 12 points
Round 5 - Peter (Castform/Walrein)
My 3rd Walrein deck today... YAY. Walrein is Team Magma's only challenge, so this turns out to be a slow paced game where I am only one prize ahead at all times. One prize is enough to pull off a win with only 2 minutes left on the clock. Best, and hardest, match all day. Good job!
5-0; 15 points
Round 6 - Danny (Team Magma/Banette) AKA Erma Eunice Finklebunker
This isn't even fair. He isn't playing Team Magma's Zangoose, and I am. Also, I have Weakness over his Banettes. He is able to stall for a couple turns with sleep at the end of the game, but top decking a Briney's Compassion was all I needed.
6-0; 18 points
Yay. 1st place, 1 Treecko promo, 12 FRLG packs. I think I gave the Japanese players a great name. Team Magma is an excellent deck, and the Japanese players were extremely smart to play it at Worlds. I probably would lose to them - being more experienced with the deck and all, but I think I've done well. You can keep up with the deck's record in my profile.
Just to let everyone know, I took 5th place at Manitowoc today and got 12 more packs for $15.
Thanks to everyone for making it a great day! :D
We had 13 in the 15+, 10 in the 11-14, and only 2 in the 10-, for a total of 25 prerelease players. (Not bad at all!)
We had 15 players for the MF tourney.
To everyone who drove long distances, I appreciate it! I hope you had as much fun as I did.
I'm looking into starting a second league and offering more tournaments on a regular basis.
By the way, both tournaments have been uploaded, and should be reflected in your rankings soon! :)
I just got back from the Manitowoc tournament. I didn't get an official count, but there were over 40 players (only one in 10-!) so 15+ was tough.
I played Snorlax/Bulbasaur 3-1 line/Bellsprout 2-2-1 line/Scyther with a few other basics that I rarely used. I went 5-2 and got 3rd place. Menoknow did good too and got 4th (we had to play each other while both of us were still undefeated :(). Team Brookfield did very well with Rulemaster and 2 other friendsI took going 4-3 (those same 2 friends each pulled Charizard EX). I pulled an Articuno EX and Rulemaster pulled an Electrode EX, Zapdos EX and a Venusaur EX. All in all a good day.
Props to BrokenLizard and the Manitowoc TO for some great tournaments. Can't wait for the next ones! :)
What a weekend.
It started on Friday, when my friend won tickets to go meet and see Linkin Park. What a blast. Anyway, I was doing that instead of playtesting my new modified deck and getting a good night's sleep...On Saturday I played a metapod/persian deck. I ended up doing well, getting 4th (i think) and getting 4 packs for prize. Then for the modified, in which i made a Team Magma deck for and really felt weird playing it because i didn't get to test it. I ended up getting owned by Walrein like 3 times. I think I went 3-3. Just for entering the modified tourney, everybody got a pile of the following promos:
Jigglypuff, black star #7
Machamp, black star #43
Dragonite, black star #5
Pikachu, black star #4
Mewtwo, black star #3
Snorlax, black star #49
Articuno, black star #48
Pokemon Tower, black star #42
Electabuzz, black star #46
Pichu, black star #35
Manitowoc on Sunday was fun. A mass of brookfield players invaded, and they did very well. I played metapod/dugtrio/lickitung, and went 4-3. The funniest thing, and the strangest, was this: I sat down to play my first opponent, and it was this 55 year old guy. He asks me if i play by "the letter of the law", and i say "yes." He immediately gets up and says that he concedes. well, turns out he ends up going 6-1, and in the last match of the tournament, he plays my bro Pokewisconsin, and has no problem with it. The dude ends up winning the tournament, and leaves me puzzled and kinda upset that a guy would not play someone because they play by the rules in a sanctioned tournament. After the tourney i put all my cards in my binder and blended berries in R/S with some little kid who asked the whole day to do it. thanks for the pokeblocks, kid. we also mixed records, so i gotta go lookin for him in the game now lol. Afterwards, I went to pizza hut with pokewisconsin, kellen, and brant, and the we went and played halo till we were about to pass out. fun day.
Props:
Derrick-Proving himself again with 2 first-place finishes. Hyp has improved so much since i first played him
Jared-Broken Lizard delivered a stellar tourney, flawless and fun
Jeff-For driving from green bay on saturday to brookfield, and then coming again on sunday
Chicago-for coming up and giving us a run for our money, like always
Manitowoc-for getting pizza for everybody and keeping 40 pokemon players under control(sorta)
Slops:
55 year old with problems
Some dude named brian at manitowoc for screaming the whole day
My magma deck...anyone have any Briney for trade? (lol)
Great weekend, great end to the summer. hope all you pokemon players in school find time to keep playing. we're thinking about starting a league at whitewater, wisconsin now...we'll see what we can do huh menoknow. thank you everyboday again.
Rulemaster
I couldn't stand the "HEY MAN I JUST PULLED A WEEDLE!!!!!" and "THIS CARD IS AWESOME!!!!!". I doubt they scream like that when they are reading the spoilers....:x
Thanks. Its people like you that make me want to play the game more and more. I've gained so much respect since I started playing in Brookfield. Our league may have shrunk over the past year, but the hearts (and personalities, for that matter) of our crew has grown a lot. I'm so glad we don't have any of those people who like they are totally "1337" in our league. It makes the entire thing much more enjoyable for all.
Thanks everyone from Brookfield, and all who make the Brookfield tournaments even more enjoyable.
Mark your calendars everyone...
The next Brookfield prerelease will be Saturday, October 30th. How's THAT for advance notice? ;)
Ask off from work now!
Now that I'm in Whitewater--I'm officially apart of Team Brookfield. I had a good first showing while with Team Brookfield with a 4th place finish. That gives Brookfield 4 of the top 8.
I'm having issues in my dorm room getting an internet connection so some of you guys may not see me on AIM or the boards much if at all for a couple days. Hoping to get things running ASAP though. Can't stand not having the internet in my room. UGH!
Can't wait for the next prerelease!
BTW--do you have an official date on the City Championships, I assume there will be one in Brookfield.
There is no official information of any kind about the City Championships. There are many who think/hope they'll begin in October. I certainly intend to run one if possible!
